What kind of speed should I expect?

Jeff J

New member
The boat is a Pulse 170 BR, with a 93' 120hp v4 Evinrude. No trim tabs or other fins on the lower end. The speedometer read 45mph yesterday - but the previous owner questioned whether it was working properly (last Fall.)
What would a 'jack plate' do? Is it worth it?
thanks,
Jeff

Jackplate and water pressure gauge worth it, YES.
Last year I had a hyd jackplate on the tri-mate.
Witht he plate all the way down and running wide open I would get to about 51 mph. Jack the plate all the way up and hang on running 68 mph.
Just watch the water pressure. You don't want to cook anything.
What is your current prop and pitch?

Is this speed with the moter trimed up? what are you running for a prop? and what RPMs are you running at WOT.

Your eventual top speed depends on many variables, but I'm guessing around 60 - 62 with everything set up properly.....
