which jack plate

I came across a v6 150hp merc my buddie is going to let me take off his hands fairly cheap..

Whats the most reasonable 5'' - 6'' jackplate?

whats the most reasonable hydraulic / electric jackplate?

Also what is the most setback I should use?

OK and what year is the motor? Old Mercs (some of the first 150's) had a different bolt pattern. They went to the standard pattern in the early 80's. I'm just making sure you're not about to waste some money.

As far as setback, a Predictor doesn't need any more than 6" with a V6 on it I wouldn't think. illMATTic would be your expert on Predictor setup.

that's what i was thinking, powered is a better choice than manual, although i've played with a manual plate and it works ok. cmc makes a pretty good set up. i guess it depends on your budget.

I have a 4" on my Predictor with an XRi, but is not needed due to the added weight of the
engine. It's there 'cause I needed to jack the eng. to the sweet spot... and never took it off!
Running high engine positions require a LWP for eng. health! I also recommend a pressure
and temperature gauge.

I don't think he'll need the LWP with a 150 if you mean a nosecone. It won't be fast enough......the water inlet scoops and plugging the top 2 intake holes may be a good idea to improve water intake with the motor jacked up. Look at the recent posts from cmpulse170 - he just put some of those on I believe.

You absolutely must have a water pressure gauge if you will be jacking it up much.
