Why do we love these boats so much?

Sorry to see that, that sucks, my 89' wood is like new, lol

I couldn't help but notice the Yankton,SD sticker on the truck in the background, I'm a truck driver and I stop and sleep at that coffee cup truck stop at exit 26 on I 29 all the time, they have free internet so I can get on here, lol, I don't think that's too far from where you are?

Only about 20 Miles away I go thru there all the time - Welcome to SD!

lost my job two weeks ago and i now have lots of time on my hands.
i've been spending that time wet sanding my deck (it's a 93 and black)
If I was working I would not have time to do this but since I have nothing but time on my hands it's all I want to do. I kind of hope I'm still out of work come spring time so I can do nothing but drive it (the ex boss owes me lots of unpaid overtime and I should collect on it)

I like most of you grew up around boats. we never had a checkmate closest thing was a sea ray. I just love being on the water with my family. I thought that I had the perfect answer for this, but earlier this year I guy I did some trading with gave me the best answer. After I trading him my fishing boat for his ski boat he gave me a call.

what he said was that he has been watching people on boats from the shore. "now that I am out there it is like I am free". he said "it is that it is a new found freedom on the water, its like when I on the water I have zero issues going on in my life."

and after talking with him I realized that I agree 100% with him. besides my family there is nothing that brings me as much joy!!!:surf:

Back in the early sixties, my dad and a friend of his bought the first 2 factory built boats in the area and it has been a boating life from that day forward. My parents have some old black and white pic's of me driving the boat as early as 4 years old. Boats in general have always been a passion, but when I laid eyes on my first Checkmate back in the early seventies(around 12 years old)LOL, I knew I had to have one someday. Now getting ready to take delivery of #7 very soon, I wouldn't own anything else! Long live the goodtimes and memories created by our Checkmates both old and new! Also, I must say that the greatest stress relief I know is a fast ride in my Checkmate. An entire week of crap can all be erased by 1 trip up the lake and back. I always return witha new hair dew and a better attitude! Great thread! Thanks, boatman:)
