We are at Lake Side on SML.

If you are down that way stop and say HI!
Hi Engreps and welcome to the board! Love to stop by some time. We usually put in at State Park and hang out at one of the lil sandy beaches across from the ramps. We have friends on the lake that own "Bridge Side Marine Sales and Service" They live next door to the Scrugs ramp. We also put in there and hang out from time to time or go up to the cliffs and the islands. What kind of Checkmate do yall have? I bet it's not and old beater like ours! LOL LOL!! Nice to have a local menber on board:thumb:

Block off or not to block off ???

Didnt you get a oil block off kit?
Thanks Boston and yes I did get the block off kit but didn't install it. I am torn as to what to do. Everyone on the board says take the oin injection off, mix the gas and you will never have a problem. On the other hand I have talkes to several marine tecs that tell me i'm crazy if I take it off. They tell me how good the system works and how it has worked well for many many years. They also say if i'm not going to be running crazy high rpms I will never have a lean out problem. The motor had a new oil injection pump installed last summer, I guess I will just keep it on for now. I Hope the alarm system works well and does the job if I ever do have a problem. Yep I'm confused.

I use it on mine, Dont know If i want to take it off...I never run at high RPMs for more than a few seconds at a time, and everyone I talked to said its okay...who can really tell though?

UPDATE

First test run was on wednsday the 19th. It ran 61 mph with the bow down and I know it will do 3 to 4 mph faster with some adjusting:cheers "That was fun"

SECOND TEST RUN

For the second test run we are installing the scoop kit for the water inlets and going up 1" on the motor. Will let you know how that worked out.

Looks good! I have a 'free' horsepower trick for you to consider.

Order a bow-cover from Mike at Checkmate for that boat, install the snaps, install the bow-cover, take it to the lake and witness a 3 mph gauranteed gain in top speed!!

Thanks JW! A custom bow cover will also look just as good as it works. I want to have Mike make me my next boat cover. I need to replace the old cover before winter. Do you think a bow cover needs to close in the open windshield as well or is it ok to keep that open?
