Yellowing/fading of metal-flake gelcoat

I started taking the old beat up logo and lettering off my '79 Eluder the other night and noticed that the silver metal-flake gelcoat has yellowed a bit. It's really in amazingly good condition for being 30 years old, but knowing that it's going to be next to impossible to find lettering that exactly matches the original I need to figure out what to do. Is this something that can be corrected with buffing/polishing or is the yellowed gell deeper than that?

You might be able to bring it back a little but I doubt you will get 100% of it back.

Go to a vinyl shop and have them make custom new decals
