Checkmates on the Chesapeake Bay?

Originally posted by Ron & Jan O:
Jan and I and our friends with their Checkmate put in on the Chester River at Deep Creek and rode down to Kent Narrows this fall for the races. It was a great trip and we were able to let the Checkmates do what they do best on the river, go fast!!! We would like very much to meet up in 06 with some other owners.

You say you went to kent narrows for the race would that have been the hydroplane races or did you go all the way to cambridge for the offshore power boat race? I have pics of the cambridge an key west race in the open boating fourm."kings crazy knights" my brother and I will be bringing our checkmates to cambridge in 06 plus at least two fountains and a sea ray.
Yes, we ran down the river to the hydroplane races. Cambridge would be a haul for us by boat. We very much would be interested in trailering down near Cambridge for the offshore races.

Should be a good event.

fly with me

come on down the esva to accomack county and ill give you
the grand tour, if you can keep up. first stop at tangeir for
a crabcake, and i can get there in 12 minutes from hunting creek.
ive got a checkmate and a tunnel, and the greatest place in the
world to ride. im a year round boater, and ive been the only one
with a speedboat for 4 years, but ive created a frenzy past 2, and
theres about 6 trying to catch me. been boating for 32 years,
and know the bay like the back of my hand. id love to show you
my bay, and some es hospitality, and you wouldnt need to worry
about anything, places to stay, running aground, etc, just keeping
up with my smilemaker. this place gave my boat its name.

speaking of cambridge

ive been there past 2 years at the boat races, and followed the
poker run year before last. there was a colored fellow who blew
a motor in his boat, so me and my motor man (merc man) gave
him a ride back from the restaurant to get his vehicle, and my
little check had his knees knocking when we went under the 50
bridge and dropped him off on the floating dock. big boat, big money
is fun, but my little check lived up to its name again.

If any one in the Chesapeake area is interested some friends and I will be renting slips at the Hyatt resort in cambridge Md in September 2006 for the boat races. I think it would be cool if we could get as many checkmates to show up as possible. If anyone is interested let me know I have the resorts info and fees on hand.

What's the date and details of this event?

Let me know and I'll put it on the board's calendar. :)

Chesapeake folks, keep an eye out for me please

I'm looking to trade my Checkmate Starliner in on a early Convincor (mid-late 1980's) so if you see one at any of the local Chesapeake Bay dealers please let me know. Or, if you know anyone selling one let me know. Thanks in advance and hope to meet some of yo on the Bay this summer.

CHESAPEAKE

JUST GOT OUR NEW CHECKMATE AND ARE BOATING OUT OF SOUTH JERSEY...LOOKING TO SHOOT OVER TO THE BAY VIA THE CHESAPEAKE/DELAWARE CANAL. I'VE HEARD THAT CHESAPEAKE CITY IS ONE OF THE HOT-SPOTS....? WOULD LOVE TO HOOK UP W/ SOME OTHER CHECKMATE FANATICS THIS SUMMER!

Ragingpatriot. Where in South Jersey are you coming from. I put in the Salem area, cruz the Delaware river sometimes up as far as Philly, and almost always go down the C & D canal. There is a popular hangout in Chesapeake City. Sometime in July I think they have a C & D canal day which I have not yet attended, but I hear they get hundreds of boats. Also, over the July 4th week end we will be on the Chester river in Maryland with another Checkmate. Possibly we'll see you around.

2000 Checkmate Persuader 235 Yorktown

Hey guys,

Just bought my Checkmate a few months ago. I leave out of Yorktown and run the James River, York River, Chickahominy River, and some of back bay around Langley AFB.

If you are down this way email me. The trailer is "Off-Meds" and the boat has yet to be decaled.

2000 Checkmate Yorktown, VA Anyone in Hampton Roads?

Hey Out there...

Any Checkmate owners in Hampton Roads? Anybody near the Peninsula? It would be great to get a group together and do some racing and poker runs.

Contact me here. I check the site every day or so. I'm Safetynut.

It would be cool to get a group together and maybe set up a race on the York River. There is also very nice dock facilities and restaurants at Yorktown Beach. Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, Seafood, Best burger in Town, etc...

Let me hear from you - if there's anyone out there.... My boats tucked in for the Winter But now is the time to start getting a group contact list together for 1st thaw...

See you out there...

best of both worlds

the e.s.va is the only place i know where i can fly in the ocean at assateague island, and pull my boat up, head 15 minutes to baside, launch and be on the western shore in an hour. solomons is 1 hour by boat, 5 by car. crisfeild 1.15 hr by car, 15min by boat. from clams & lobster to crabcakes & rockfish, all in the same day. and all it cost me is gas and booze, and the most terrible jaw/cheek hangover imaginable, because of the corners of my mouth trying to touch my ears.

i followed the offshore bunch on the poker run to tillmans yr fore last, and the colored fellow in the big cigg blew a motor, so i offered to give him a ride back to cambrige. he went, and he might not be over it yet. his legs were a little shakey and he lost his speech. next sept ill not have to worry about all that boat wake, haha.

taking possession of my zt240 next weekend..... i live in mclean, va, but will be spending several weekends in the annapolis/kent island area of the bay and all around the south river.... always looking for people to shoot around with.

chesapeake mates

hey are there any upper Chesapeake boaters. The original post was from some Pa. boaters and I wonder where they put in at. There are plenty of good ramps for trailer boaters on the upper chesapeake. Probably the best ramp is at the elk neck state park on the elk river. it is 4 to 5 boats wide and real nice. There are ramps on the northeast river in the town of northeast. You can put in at perryville on the susquehanna or go across the bridge and put in at Havre de Grace. The boating is excellent from the Susquehanna river south as far as you want to venture. There are plenty of places to hang out with a lot of good people. a few are Lloyds Creek, Still Pond, James Creek, Fairlee creek, etc. If you are into water sports there are good areas with flat water protected from the wind on the Sassafras river, the bohemia river above the bridge, between the islands on the susquehanna and many more. If anyone wants to get together to set up a weekend get together get back to me. I believe it would be fun to get a bunch of Checkmates together.

hey anybody ever hit the Magothy river? I have an 18 ft jetmate, it doesn't like a lot of ruff water so I almost never hit the bay. everybody hangs out at Dobbins Island on the Magothy, Dutchship Island to the locals. Let me know if your headin that way.:welcome:
