Saw this on the OSO beautiful 30!!

Fixed it for ya.

That's why OB's rock the party. :poke:

I try to stay off the O/B subject but I have yet to see one come close to 100 on this site. And don't forget we are talking about a 30 foot Convincor doing this in 2 foot of chop. Your O/B may be quick but only on smooth water conditions. O/B speed runs must be planned due to water conditions thats were the problem with O/B's fall.

I give the new 2400 a lot of credit running 77-78 with one 300 but that's on smooth water stick it on 2 foot of chop and see what happens.

Then it becomes reality speed of normal lake conditions. :thumb:

Sooo, stick 3 - 300XS's off a 30' Convincer and let r rip. 100 should be obtainable, mota's will be more efficient, and cheaper than a 1000hp I/O... just sayin... Either way it would be badass. :thumb:

I have test driven a 30' with twin 280 ROS motors the boat was rigged by Ocean Outboard on Long Island -- Three people (One Beefy guy;)) 75 gallons of fuel -- We ran 28 LT's labbed in Salt water 85 top end she would run close to 90 with little old me in it. As far as I know the boat is till for sale and could be bought for 90k it is a 2008. The only draw back is the fuel!!! Man you could see the fuel guage move when he was on the hammer. Other then that the rigging was a good as it comes!! And the sound that beautiful sound!!
Getting back to the subject at hand I do not think you could get a 30 or any C/M to run anywhere near the century mark with O/B power and a stock hull. I know guys will mention a pair of the 300xs's but for me there is nothing pushing you better then doe 2.5 -- 280's;)

That would backfire I do believe the wait of the 3 engine's would just make the boat handle badly. I feel 2 300's are enough for the boat. Lets not forget the hull is not that heavy and its very easy to sick the boat on plane with a single engine.

I don't agree on more efficient how could 3 of anything be more efficient. And plus what I have seen the 300 likes fuel and theirs nothing very efficient about that. Plus the extra wait of 480 pounds each hanging off the back along with set up parts for 3 engines.

Triples!! Sorry BEE but that is for the fisherman now!! The more mota's you got the more ya have to watch!! And forget what the rigging cost would be!!!

I was just looking for a ballpark on a big one like a 250-300. I don't keep up on the ouboard side of the boating world, but will admit that I think some of those supercharged Mercs are very cool!

What wacker is that if you are talking about??
A new 300xs will run you 17 to 17,5k
A new 2.5 --280 ROS 15 mid will cost ya 25k++ Yeap they still build the best but it will cost ya!!!:bigthumb:

That's cheap, I'm looking at 17-18k for a 225 pro xs but that's in Canada where we pay more for everything.

You are correct. When Bill still owned the company you could actually get three different bottom configurations on the 300. The notch as shown on the Kunkles boat. The traditional bottom with just a small pad and a full bottom with no pad or notch. I'm pretty sure the full bottom with out pad or notch was used on the twin engine models. The boat in the add with just a stock 500 hp will only run in the high 60's.
I did not know that one of those hulls could be had with a pad.

check the price on a 1000hp bbc..... :eyecrazy:

The weight of trips would be very limiting, but I'd take 3 bone stock 300XS's over a 1000hp built turbo/blown mota anyday of the week as far as efficiency/maintenance/upkeep are concerned.

The sound of the bbc would drop panties for 50 miles though:lol:
