4.3L MERCRUISER CARBURETOR UPGRADE

NEBS

I have a 2001 4.3L Vortec Mercruiser with a factory 2bbl. Runs fine but does run-on sometimes after shut off. I was thinking of upgrading to a 4bbl with aluminum intake. I am wondering if I should go with Edelbrock or Holley marine carburetor? Which one is easier to tune and rejet if I had too? I have run a Holley on a Ford 289 boat motor. It was awesome wide open but a little rough at idle. Thanks

Edelbrock 1409 600 cfm with the appropriate jet kit (I want to say 89s...), and edelbrock performer intake. should be really close to dead on right out of the box

Why don't you contact Doug Russel Marine in MA. Last year I bought the MPI complete manifold setup. It has all the injectors, throttle body and sensors. Gives a 230 hp rating. Only upgrade is the computor.

Mine will be used for an inboard set up, so I need a custom computor, but the MPI is a much safer system to use. I think the whole setup isn't that much more than a good marine 4 bbl carb, pricewise.

The Edelbrock 1406 looks to be cheaper than the Holley by a $100. I am not looking for alot of hp just a little better throttle responce and better hole shot.

1409 is a marine carb... for the carb and manifold new, you're looking at something a little over 500 I think. it's a decent combo that I have done before...

for what you are doing go with the edelbrock carb, easy to tune and they work well....use a pair of them on my 454's in my gibson
