2011 244ZT prop selection

Hey guys I was just wanting everyone's opinion on what prop would be best for me. My boat is a 2011 244ZT with the 502mag (385hp) and bravo X drive turning a bravo one 26pitch 4 blade. I currently run 68mph at 4600 rpm trimmed just past two clicks on the trim gauge. When trimmed for best speed I am shooting about 3 foot rooster tail. Also I have no trim tabs. My best top speed was 69.5 mph on gps. I want to stay with a 4 blade or maybe try a 5 blade. My goal is to gain more top speed. I'd like to see 75 if possible.

Your mph numbers sound pretty good to me. You could up your rpm a couple hundred by going down to a 24 but not sure if you'll see any more mph. 75 I don't think you'll see without some more hp.

I know you stated that you want to stick with a four blade, but if you are looking for top speed, I would try a Mirage Plus (3 Blade).

Your speeds sound great and I agree with HD on the Mirage 3 blade. My Persuader makes better speeds with my Mirage 27p 3 blade than my Spinelli Labbed 4 blade 28p.The 502 mag can turn a little more than the 4600 rpm but I think your numbers sound very good. Good luck and enjoy.

I would have your Bravo I labbed for an extra 300 rpm. That motor would be more happy between 4800-5000 rpm. Does it air out good running the Bravo I prop? if not might try adding some cup.

BTW those are some pretty good numbers for a stock prop and the 385 hp motor.

Explain to me what you mean by air out good?
To "air out" means to have the boat riding up on the pad area on the bottom on the hull drastically reducing the wetted surface of the hull. Your boat may not be a pad hull being as it is the 244 (Baja H2X) hull but I am unsure if they added a pad to it or not. I the boat is aired out, the bow should feel very light and possible chine walking/having to use steering to balance hull at speeds.

the 502 magnum is 385 hp and the 502 magnum HO is 430 hp. same game as with the old 496's

Im not familiar with the new 502 specs but the older 454 mag efis were 385, the 502 mag efis were 415 hp.

I would test some other props, borrow a 24 bravo and test it to see what rpms and speed you can get. log all the test number and the props you used. it will help in having it labbed, the prop guys will know what your boat likes and doesnt like and give you the best results.

I have a 24 you can try, its not for sale but you are welcome to run it, just replace it if damaged.

check with some baja guys too, you may find some information on offshoreonly.com regarding props for that setup. (at least for the older baja versions)

If i recall that was a great running hull for speeds.

I just rechecked my numbers loaded with fuel and 5 people. I was running 4450 at about 66-67 mph. I'm thinking one pitch down will be what I want.

5 people in the boat is a lot of weight. I bet your R's would be in the "sweet spot" with a lighter load.

The MC Site says 4400 to 4800 Max RPM's.

I took a run by myself this evening 69.8 gps at 4644rpm. I'm really wanting to see over 70. I guess they don't make a performance ECU for this new 502 yet.

I'm still on the market for a prop. I'm wanting to try the 24 pitch bravo or the rev 4 25 pitch. Any suggestions??

For best speed a 25p Mirage (3 blade) might be the ticket.....those usually have the best speed results if you have a low enough x-dimension to let it bite. I think you should try one.

So the 23 rev 4 is more what I want. I tried a 25 mirage 3 blade and it kept blowing out on me. Seemed to slip way too much. I do have the raised bravo X drive. I also tried a trophy plus 24 pitch 4 blade and it seemed to have no top end. I quickly got back to the launch to change it.

Trophy is too small of a diameter to give you enough bite. Given you tried the Mirage, a 24p Bravo I with added cup or the 23p Rev 4 would be your best bet.
