502 rebuild/refresh thread

From what the guy said they will be a bit quieter than the lightning headers were but we will see, will def sound different

Negligible i bet. Lightning were a header but wet tails/tips. Gills are a manifold, which arent quite as loud naturally, but dry tails will have zero muffling effect. Like you said, we will see.

Numerous mods and snafus but new exhaust now fits. As you can see I have some transom repair to do. We did save the new hole piece to plug the old holes so I can glass them in and sand smooth. Inside will look new this year, outside May have decals over them until I can match paint next year with the other dings in my boat

Is that 100 mph duct tape?:bigthumb:

Looking good! Where is the video of it running through the pipes?:poke:

The only video I have is when it is missing on 1 cylinder. The water that came out of the old header locked one of the lifter causing that cylinder to not fire, the valve is open. As with all things, this little whore is fighting to the very end. Jeff diagnosed it and he is on top of it as usual. One patient man, none of this is his fault, he told me to check exhaust in winter and I didn't have the money as well you did too my friend.

That being said, Slingblade engines sound better on 7 than most do on 8.

Yea this crap is expensive. Im already way over budget on mine as of now. It will be worth it once you get it right! Hang in there brother!

Let me just reiterate the engine ran flawless on all 8 off the engine stand, it is a perfect build, the boat surrounding it however is not.lol. But it's getting closer. Yea, that was 100 mph gorilla tape.lol. Water proof to a depth of 1 inch, haha
