Dad's hunting for a new boat

i know, i know. My dad wants a swim platform, sun pad, and larger freeboard that you get with the i/o's. This combined with the fact that a Checkmate of the same size would probably cost about 50% more than the other brands. I'll keep my eye out for some good used 'mates though (within 5 or so...

Dad's hunting for a new boat

Hey everyone, i just thought i would pop in to get everyone's opinion on different boats and brands. My father is looking into buying a bowrider in the 18-19' range (possibly a 20). I tried to convince him of a Checkmate, but it really isn't his thing. He is looking for a family boat, stern...

    Fuel tanks: built-in vs portables

Hey everyone, Well the title says it all, what do you guys think? When i first bought the trimate II, the guy used 2 6 gallon portables as the tank, but he sold the original 20 gal aluminum built in with the boat. I liked the idea of the built in at the time, and reinstalled the tank. However...

    Best online part sites

as for outboard parts MKhammer is the cheapest i have found online or locally. Great customer service too! Overtons is good for random stuff like dock lines etc.

    Tahoe Boats by Tracker ????

They seam to be well built boats, and look nice and sporty as well. HOWEVER, have your buddy take a look at larson boats as well. I looked at a Tahoe and a Larson side by side at a boat show, and while the tahoe had the slight edge on style, all other points went to the larson. Larson uses a...

    New prop

Hey everyone, i am looking at purchasing a new prop for my trimate II with a 115 TOP. I like the Turning Point Legacy -- especially from a price standpoint. Right now i am turning a 21* S/S mercury at between 4900-5000 rpm. Should i stick with a 21 when i go to aluminum or drop down to a 19. I...

    Hot foot on Trimate II

Good Point! One more question, this is an all-purpose boat for my family (only boat) what kind of effect does a hot foot have on watersports, i know tubing would probably be minimal, but as far as keeping a constant speed skiing and whatnot, what are your experiences?
