    Boat Insurance

The "quick quote" I received was not accurate. When I called to check their numbers they said they would have to re-quote since the boat goes over 60mph. The new number was over $ 1,400. Looks like I'm staying with Progressive.

    Boat Insurance

Anyone use United Marine for their boat insurance? I have Progressive with a yearly premium of $ 1,200 for a 2001 ZT280. I did a quick quote from an e-mail sent by United and the premium was under $ 600 for the same coverage.

    Gelcoat recomendations

They have a "neutral" smell and there are no special precautions to take when you apply any of the products. Before this I tried Poliglow(would NEVER use it again) also Vertglas, that would last pretty much the entire season in the Northeast but it required several "coats" to get the shine. The...

    Gelcoat recomendations

My ZT280 got beat up pretty bad last year between the sun and the birds.(on a mooring) I tried 3M products, compound, polished, buffed and it just looked OK. I was told by several people that if I wanted a "new" look I would have to wet sand.Last week I tried a series of products from a company...

    Lake George,N.Y.

As far as Lake Champlain being clean it just depends where you are. The water below the Lake Champlain bridge is "murky" because of the clay bottom. Once you get to the wider points of the lake it is very clean. (from Westport and up on the New York side) There are no problems with speed limits...

    Saratoga Boat Works

Maxxum 229 I live in CT but have a cottage in Willsboro Bay. I might make it up to the Plattsbugh area later this year. Boat runs great!!! A new Magellan Meridian Color GPS recorded 66mph and I probably could push 68. Saratoga Boat Works is a joke. They had the boat again to do the recalls and...

    Vertglass Restorer

This is a great product. I used it for several years on a Chris Craft that had some pretty dull gel coat and it would stay shiny the entire boating season. The boat was at a mooring and it took a beating from the sun. No wax ever held up that long. I tried a similar product called Poli-Glow on...

    Saratoga Boat Works

I had an older GPS( Magellan) and at slightly less than 5000RPM the GPS was reading 55mph. I had a Seadoo Speedster(Merc 240EFI) that hit 56mph(Garmin StreetPilot) so I knew there was something wrong with the GPS. Not to say the speedo in my 03 4Runner is perfect but when the speedo read 67-68...

    Saratoga Boat Works

They are actually working on my boat this week/weekend. I'm heading up to the lake on June 25th and should be there for over a week. Where on the lake to you hang out?? The boat handles great and a very comfortable ride even when the lake kicks up.

    Saratoga Boat Works

Hi Robin, Finally got a chance this weekend to put several hours on the ZT 280. The first week I was at my camp on Lake Champlain I found out there was a recall on the boat for a fuel leak. Since I'm no engine guy it took some time to check out what they were talking about on the recall and...

    Saratoga Boat Works

No more Checkmates, I was just curious(without going into details just yet) on how other people might have been treated on Checkmates or any other boat purchased from Saratoga Boat Works.

    Barrier Coats

Several years ago I had a Chris Craft that most people said I should apply a barrier coat which I did every other year.I purchased a ZT280 last year, the boat is moored on Lake Champlain from April to October and I am uncertain of the barrier coat. Doe anyone know if Checkmate applies any type of...
