    I was in the same position as you, and ended up going with a Hydrodynamics 4" rapid jack (manual) jack plate. It has only improved the ride of the boat (mx-15), if anything the bow is less flighty simply because the prop isn't buried as deep

    not to rain on your parade here, but I seriously doubt that transom is dry/solid with that much rot in the floor and stringer system. Have you drilled some test holes into it or just knocked on it? Cool project!

    Tore the carbs down tonight, found a main jet 90% clogged in the carb that matched the smoked piston. At least I know what happened. All of the carb bowls and bodies (plastic) are warped. I will have to sand them flat before I reassemble them. No pictures tonight my phone is dead :irked:
