19’ Motor Recommendations 225 EFI or Verado

Riverman

New member
I am new. Please forgive me that I have not owned a Checkmate earlier. I have a chance to buy a very inexpensive project 1987 19’. First, I am not 100% what model it is, But I will try and attach pics.

My Question....I have a 225 EFI and a 225 Verado kicking around. Both long shafts. I have new rigging for the Verado.

What engine would you recommend?

If this project worthy of the effort?

It looks like it needs transom work, so I was thinking I would raise the transom.
