1975 V-Mate II Restore

I ran the boat at the Cumberland rally and was able to get max speed of 50.1 with an aluminum 21p prop. I don't know the rpms but my guess is they were maxed out.

I bought a 22 p stainless and yesterday was able to get 55.3 (gps) @ 5400 rmps. If I overtrimmed (and got a decent size rooster tail), I was able gain a little more speed but started chine walking pretty bad so I backed off. I figure the extra mph isn't worth staining my seat. Now I need to figure out if I need to get the stainless I have worked on or to go another pitch or two up?
 
I finally have the carpet layed in the boat. It wasn't exactly a fun job but it's done. I've also put in my interior. :D The front seats still need to be mounted onto swivels but here are some pictures of the progress. I also installed the rub rail.

is there any way you could measure your front seats height/width/length? and maybe even how high the sides and back are from the flat floor? I'm trying to see if some seats I found are too big

I'm sorry I didn't see this post as I haven't been on much as of late.
 
Well, I winterized the boat this past weekend. The last time I had it out (about a month or so ago), it wasn't running right for some reason. When I threw the throttle, it would only accelerate up to 2000 rpms and wouldn't go any further. I thought at first that my throttle was jammed or something. After going a little distance, it eventually "cleared" itself and fully accelerated like nothing was wrong until I went back to idle speed.

I checked the compression on 5 of the 6 cylinders and they were around 120 psi and couldn't get to the last one. I'm going to order a Merc gauge and will re-test them in the spring.

When winterizing the boat, I did find a hose that was the cause of my very leaky carbs. A fuel hose that runs to the top of the engine had fallen off and someone re-routed it on top of the second carb. It's probably why it seemed like I ran through fuel like crazy. It might be long shot but I wonder if that might be part of my acceleration problem. If not, I'm guessing that a carb cleaning is in order.
 
Here is a Video Mike of a Inline Bogging out . This is exactly what mine im having rebuilt does . But mine would sometimes take off and run on 5 cylinders . my number 2 cylinder is bad but it does run.

 
And here is mine running on 5 cylinders . this is the last time I ran it on the boat ..... This one of the times it chose to accelerate. I had the carbs rebuilt still ran like crap . bought my merc compression gauge and found the problem ....

 
Two things that might be making ur motor run like that. Check to see if ur plug wires r all connected good in there boot. And also the gas that was in might have had too much ethanol in it. I had the same problem this summer with my tower it was a combination of both for me. I put octane boost in the tank and it ran fine the next time I filled up I put 93 in it not a bit of trouble.
