i'm buying a '79 trimate II bowrider w/'79 mercury 115 hp. o.b. for $2700.00 (boat, motor, trailer). the boat was restored 3 years ago. new floor, carpet, apolstery and it appears to be a quality job. finish is good with light oxidation topside. the left windshield is cracked and the motor will need tune-up, carb rebuild, seals in lower unit and water pump impeller and possibly ss prop.

did i do alright or am i taking one?

If it was a quality restoration, you did good.
Look at the backing of the side pannels, are they sealed or bare wood. This will give you an indication of how well they waterproofed the boat. How is the transom. Soild? If everything is ok then you did good.

New owner of '79 Checkmate Trimate II

I just purchased my first boat and it is a '79 checkmate trimate II. I am in love with this boat and I cant wait to get it in the water. Ant other Checkmate owners in NC?

I have a 76 Trimate II with a 150 hp inline six merc and I love that style .They are so sharp looking . My dad had a black and silver one he had bought brand new in 77 and I happend to find the one I have in ohio red and black and was in really good shape still had the original interior in it. I did have to replace the transom tho .
