Guys,
I'm seriously considering parting with my 1980 Enticer (bought it in March 2011).
Only reason is I want something a bit bigger for next season (most likely another Check in the 21' size). My fear is that I won't find something as reliable as this cracker, but with a recent new member of the family, and a desire to run in bigger water, I need to do this.
I would love to keep it as it's been the best boat I've ever owned, and I think it looks the business with the metal flake and recent upholstery. Engine is turn key - just fuel up (premix) and go.
More details:
It's a 1980 Enticer 17', metalfalke orange/black.
I bought it from a Scream & Fly member. He in turn bought it from a S&F member that rebuilt the transom and floor about five years ago. It has a stock 135 Mercury (early '90s) that has been the best motor I've ever owned. The interior is also new. It's been a great boat which some of you have seen up close.
It has two bucket seats in front, a bench seat in back, and an open bow with seating for up to 6-7 in total. Great for cruising and skiing.
Previous owner has had it up to about 65mph. He reckoned it would probably go to 70+ with a different prop and a bit of jackplate adjustment. I’ve only managed 55mph this summer (only due to the chop on Hopatcong and Greenwood lakes in NJ/NY).
It’s a 135HP under a 200 cowling. The history is as follows (from previous owner):
“The guy I bought the boat from originally had a 150 HP and he blew the powerhead. It was under warranty, so Mercury replaced it for free, but he only wanted a 135HP. Not sure why. So they put the 135 powerhead on the 150 midsection/gearcase. He got his hands on this nicer 200 cowling, so he replaced the 150 cowl with this one.
As you are aware, this V6 line is all reasonably well interchangeable. All told, the motor is a 135 powerhead (the only modification is removal of the oil pump and reservoir in favor of premix), 150 midsection/production gearcase, 200 cowling.
The power trim works great, the gear lube is always fresh and it pumps water solidly, and the boat is equipped with Sea Star Hydraulic Steering.”
Included is the Laser II propeller. It works fine, but it could use some work. The original owner was a bit rough on it!!!
It sits on a Shoreline trailer with 2 new tyres and a spare.
I bought a red bimini for it, but have not secured it permanently (clamped to rail), so I may or may not include that depending on interest from potential buyer.
$3500 o.n.o.
