1994 Checkmate Enforcer? Newbie Help!

I have been looking at several boats for sale and ran across a "1994 Enforcer 260" for sale. Great condition. Questions I have wasn't 1993 the last year for the Enforcer 260? Seller says the title states a 1994 so I am going on the basis it's a 1994.

What are the big differnences between the Enforcer vs Convincor?

Is the Enforcer a good boat?

Finally the seller wants around 16k for it? Good price? (really good shape)

It looks like what they call a ZT now to me. The swim platform is made in the hull. A Convincor has a bolted on platform. The price sounds like a ball-park price for the year and size boat. You don't see many enforcers around and I have not seen one posted here that size. But from are gallery their are pics of a 93 280.

Maybe somebody else will come along and help. Good luck with your purchase and I hope its a mate.

The boat looks deeper inside than a Convincor or ZT. You will have enough room. You can sit 4 adults across the back seat with comfort. How many hours are on the engine
 
Big red is on the money; ran across this 93 enforcer on another forum; made the comment to the owner as to how different it looked as compared to mine (1982); and that it looked very similar to the current ZT models.

93 could've been the last year of production but the boat may not have been completed until early part of 94. Or it may be 93 and sold in 1994. Titling boats gets messed up quite frequently for a variety of reasons. Good advice from Chris E on the HIN; only real way to determine model year.

Enforcer

Boat has about 400 hours..Really clean...I am looking to be able to do an occasional "overnight" here and there.. Good family boat that can handle the rough water? The lake can get real snotty real fast...Again I have no experience with an Enforcer...What about price? I have been looking at Liberator 241's a Formula 242 and some others.

Here is a later version of the same boat. They modified the mold, and got rid of some style lines, making the sides of the hull smooth.

Very big boat. I never heard anything bad about these boats. I think they just "evolved" into the ZT's later.

Anyone know the quality of build with this compared to a Convincor? Will we be able to overnight on this once and a great while with a wife a 3 little ones? How is the quality vs Formula or Baja? Will this handle the big lakes when they turn snotty and not beat us up? What would be a really good deal that someone would pay for this boat? Again really,really clean. We are thinking of making an offer. Just want to make sure it's big enough and will have good resale.

same checkmate quality; probably on par w/ formula maybe a little better than baja(it's all amatter of opinion:)) Should have plenty of room for your family. Might want to consider a large cabin type canvas for the cockpit area if you plan on keeping the kids in it for a couple of days. Thats what I plan on doing to my enforcer. It should handle rough water safely; comfort is another story. If you want comfort get a mid cabin cruiser w/ a larger displacement in the 26-30ft range. resale, new boats depreciate the most in the first 4-6 years of ownership. After that the depreciation %'s are much lower year to year. A 15 yo boat in really good condition will not depreciate significantly over the next few years if kept if kept in similar condition as when you bought it.

400 hours on that engine in a boat that size means its tired. It won't be long and a engine will be needed. It might still run good but 80% of its life is gone
