2014 Pulsare 2400LD top speed help....

How far below the "V" is the center line of the propeller shaft?
What RPM's are you turning the 27" Tempest.
I have the open bow model with a 300XS set 2-1/2" below the "V" running a 25" Tempest at 5900 RPM's.

Hi Merc225,

Buddy, I would like to tell you that I remembered for sure, because we moved it around and tested a lot. But, I think we landed at 2.25" below. Running about 5800/5850 rpm range.

Do you know if you have the new Torquemaster 2 lower unit? Apparently Mercury says with its new configuration, it should be run a little higher than the Torquemaster 1 setup.

What is your top speed with your current setup?

24' BRX

Yes, I am running the Torque Master 2 gear case with 15" of set back.
Top speed 72 at 5900 RPM's with a 25" Tempest Plus
I have run a 24" Bravo 1: 68 MPH at 5800 RPM's, 24" Trophy Plus: 68 MPH at 6100 RPM's and 25" Trophy Plus: 68 MPH at 5900 RPM's.
I like the way the Bravo 1 carries the boat but hole shot was horrible.
The 25" Trophy Plus has a good hole shot but not the top end I'm looking for.
The 25" Tempest Plus is off my old Checkmate with all vent hole wide open. I could hardly get it on a plane. Will be plugging all the vent holes and giving it another try on Wednesday. Keep me posted on your set up progress.

Merc225-

Very cool...sounds like you're getting her dialed in. :bigthumb:

I have been fighting the whole bad coil issue from the onset...running only on 5 cylinders. So literally just recently(this past weekend), got my first true experience and data to work from. That said, I think I had similar experience to you.

- I had a Trophy Plus 25 (6000 rpm) that holeshot like hell wouldn't have it, but rather weak top end(69ish)

- the new a Tempest 27 hole shots not so great, and need to feather so it doesn't blow out....but strong top end(74mph).... And raising the motor an inch got me another 2mph. Like you, Gonna try to add some plugs to Tempest and see if that helps holeshot a bit. Btw, any experience with the Fury prop from Mercury. Apparently this is the prop they are recommending for the a Torquemaster 2.

All of this is very new to me.... My first boat(last year) was a 2013 Yamaha twin engine jet boat(212x). So...learning as much as I can.

I bought my 1st Checkmate in 1979 a Entertainer with a 200 Merc and still have it. Picked up my new BRX on July 16th. I have no experience with the Fury prop and don't know anybody who has one.
