2015 opener

Winter is officially over for Sim and I. It might be forecasting another snowfall tomorrow, but we got my Starliner wet this afternoon on the Raritan River out of New Brunswick and made it out to Raritan Bay where next stop is Ireland!
$80 for the season pass will see me boating here often this year and up to April 2016! It's only 20mins from the house.

It's good to be back on the water!

Without winterizing or charging the battery, I added a tank of fresh fuel and she fires up on the second turn. Love this engine!

I had 20 minutes to spare before my partner in crime arrives.

At about 50mph, where's the wash? Must have got the old girl up high!

I really should make an effort to polish this 1988 craft more often!

Picked up my guest and off we headed....destination unknown, but was most likely downstream.

Did I tell you Sim just got back from Disneyland Belfast?

Last bridge before Europe, and Disneyland Belfast!

And for those that didn't believe it was Sim, he stood up as proof....

Nice! The water is still a little hard up here.

Tom, that's why I hit the river. I reckoned the tide and meltwater flow would have cleared any ice it would have had in recent months.
Was perfect conditions. The only other boat out there was a research vessel from Rutgers with a bunch of students pretending to look busy on a Friday afternoon.

Hoping to get mine in the carport this weekend and lift the powerhead to see what I broke when we did the "We Own The Lake" run last fall. :D

First of all you suck.
Second I'm jealous.

It was COLD. So freaking cold. When I realized this morning I'd committed to boating today in an outboard that can survive our upcoming freezes I looked for a cap. Since I only ski in a helmet these days all I found was my kids old head/face cover in the basement. PS- doesn't fit.
I didn't realize you damaged it that day.
I didn't know that either. That sucks, sorry to hear it. If there's anybody I know that can fix it, it's you. See ya soon! Out where it matters.
I'm still hypothermic 10 hours later. Dropped some boat-sh-t in for servicing this morning, went to PTA meetings this afternoon, met knarloid for a couple hours on the water (thanks Kris!) and then went to work and some meetings. Still shivering and smiling. Game on!
Gonna try to post a few pics.

Here's where the other Boaters are this time of year.

Good times. Good to be here.

Fricking Irishman hadda go all the way for the bay. Full speed at times. He and I shall discuss this further.

Thats hardcore. I enjoy getting out but if I have to wear a mask and gloves its too cold. Well i think I have actually for the opening day of stripper season on the bay but that boat had a heater and lots of booze.

glad all went well and see you guys soon.

Jealous!! Had mine out of the barn Saturday and got her fired up on the hose for a bit! She had a bit of a low battery but 5 min on the charger was more than enough and she fired right up! Really made me want to take her to the lake... I know what you are saying about love for the Yammy! I am going to miss her a bit!

I thought it was always stripper season when you own a Checkmate. :)

I didn't notice I broke anything either until I went to try a new prop a couple of weeks later and realized the motor was completely disconnected at the top mounts. Only the bottom ones were holding it on. :shakehead: Glad it didn't come off. Put a ratchet strap on it to take some of the weight off of the lower mounts while it was parked for the winter.
