21 pulsare vs 22 Veocity in rough water?

We have a 98 Steve Stepp 22' Velocity and im wondering how the 21 pulsare would do in the same water. We had a 21 starfite a few years ago and loved it except the transom issue.Im thinking id like a open bow.Ive seen 76 with 2 people in the Velocity with full tank, wife and I.Running a 25p trophy plus with a 250xs.Id like a 24 pulsare but there still a bit out of our price range. We boat alot so id probably be sticking with a 250xs power wise.Any ideas ?

Ya I figured the checkmate would be faster. The velocity is no slouch mind you, this was with my wife, myself and 52 gallons of fuel.Id be wanting a open bow pulsare. How are the open bows running with a 250xs?Im courious about the rough water as well,we live on the sound and do a lot of poker style runs. The cats always walk away at over 100mph,but we boat everday. You just dont see many guys runing 24 skaters with twins everyday.Id rather have a great all around boat myself.

I've owned both and raced the 22' Velocity. The Pulsare has more room under the deck and is faster power for power. The Velocity will plane off faster due to the variable degree deadrise pad and run with a real strong midrange. The pad on the Velocity is much wider than the Pulsare pad. You can really feel the Velocity climb on the pad and take off. The Pulsare gives a softer ride in chop due to the narrower pad but the Velocity can handle bigger water due to the 22 degree deadrise vs the Pulsare's 19 degree deadrise. There are advantages and disadvantages to both boats but they are both excellent performers in the 21-22' range. Checkmate offers the open bow, Velocity does not..

One more thing to add, the Velocity, although it can handle bigger water can land very hard if you don't know how to throttle a boat in the ocean. If you don't get back on the stick upon reentry you will rattle your fillings loose due to the wide pad. If you know how to run the boat, it will land soft as butter...the Pulsare is a bit more forgiving in the chop..

My 21BR 250XS is running 78-79 GPS and I know there is some more there. Still working on props, think i'll see mid 80's next summer.
