253 Convincor PROP HELP PLEASE!!!

Hey guys i am new here and only have a few posts in other sections, well this weekend i got some more specs on my speed/rpm readings and prop pitch...prop is a mirage 21P and on GPS i saw 55MPH with 7.4L non-mag motor turning about 5200RPM's...I have heard that if i go to a 23P that would be a better prop for boat but really want some insight as i don't know too much about prop switching and boating performance but am envious to learn some more about it! Thanks for all the help guys and all your input is appreciated and if you have a prop that is what i'm looking for i'm ready to buy asap! I also posted this in the prop classified section, but figured it may get more notice here

The 23 will bring down your rpms a cuople hundred. Which would be fine since your slightly over 5000. As for top speed you might gain 1-2 or loose 1-2. This I'm not sure of only being 310hp.
Good luck.

Yea i've also been reading up on 4 blades and it looks like those are the ticket to helping the hole shot and not losing much on top end either.

I've got a Trophy 24P Stainless Steel prop for sale. Looking to get at least $200 for it. It's in great shape. has the Flo-Torq Delrin sleeve and PVS. I'm in Florida btw....hope you get the prop sit figured out! Let me know if you want this prop. thanks!

a trophy is a small eared prop and wont work well. You should stick with a larger eared prop like a Bravo I or a Revolution 4. The bravo will provide mostly stern lift and the rev 4 will provide more bow lift. Sounds like a 22p in the bravo would be the ticket (sold only in even # pitch) or a 21p rev 4 (sold only in odd # pitches).given my experience with 253's, I would lean towards finding a WEp mirage or the WQp rev 4. Bravo props tend to lift the stern too hard and not let the bow air out on a 253. Your rpm at WOT should be between 4800 and 5000.....those props i listed should put you there based on the numbers you gave. Remember 4 blade props require you to drop an inch of pitch compared to the same 3 blade. Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the help, where is a good place to pick up one of these props? I was out today and was turning 5200RPM's topped out with my wife and i in the boat and 1/2 tank with about 2 foot chop. I think i would like to go with a 4 blade to help with the holeshot and get me outta the water quicker. Now if a higher pitch 3 blade would help with that better i would just go that route. I guess i'm just looking for the best overall prop and where to buy it from . Thanks again.

I have a 14 3/4 x 23 that you are welcome to try. Just pay the shipping. If it works for, $250. Prop is same as new. I think the other guys will tell you, my props are always what I say they are! Just let me know and I will send it to you.

you need to get RPMs down a bit a 23 mirage + will be fastest top end wise, but the 22 bravo 1 will be a better all around prop, but 1-2 MPH slower top end wise

Yea....what he said! Best place to find props at a reasonable price is either on here, craigslist, or ebay. A revolution 4 propeller has a cupping more similar to a mirage but with 4 blades and therefore should not hurt the top end as badly because it is still carrying the boat in the same manner. I have never ran one on mine, but until I built my engine, I was going to get one but now they don't offer a large enough pitch for me. I have seen people use them on this hull with better results than the Bravo I. They are far less common to find used though......
