I am looking at a 1987 24 enforcer with 1987 300 johnson. The boat is in very good condition for its age and the engine was rebuilt in 2002. For some reasons these engines dont have the best reputation. The package also comes witha trailer. The guy wants $8200. Any thoughts on the deal, any thoughts on the engine.

The only bad I've heard of the engine is the lower unit breaking because of the big power that motor makes. But then I've heard of other 300's that never break. Would be a fun boat! Offer him less and see what he'll take.....

So what happened? Did you get the boat? I used to own a 32' chris craft scorpion with twin 300's. The boat moved. I never had any problems with them. I removed the oil injection/tanks and mixed the oil directly in the fuel tank. You use mor oil that way but I've never blown a motor.

I looked at the boat, the engine looked old and tired and the boat looked worse, I thing the pictures he emailed me were from 5 years ago. Still on the look for a 24,25 outboard mate
