78 TriMate II-Merc 150 V6-Prop Help

The Mate

Member
Hi Guys,

I have a 16 ft Trimate II. No jackplate 1978 V6 150, everything original and in good shape for the age.

We only use it to run the kids around on tube, wakeboard etc. I need a good holeshot prop with little slip. The original almn 3 blade prop is on there now 19 pitch, and it is okay but with 4 people in the boat it sucks. Tons of slip on turns.

Also, does anyone recommend a Hydrofoil or will the prop be enough?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help.

I dont have the 23p any more but I do have the 19p thats my spare I keep in the boat . If your looking for a prop go to www.overtons.com . They have these brand called comp prop . They are composite and run about $80.00 They are very light . Im going to pick a 4blade 21p comp prop myself .

Well with my jackplate I think I will try running a chopper and see what I can get with that.

motor issue will be dealt with once I get the floor done. BUT my garage is so small I cant fit my boat into it so...... The ****ty weather has been slowing me down and to top it off I know we have had some nice days but I happen to have night school the days that the sun shines and the days it rains guess what I dont have school grrr.:brickwall: But I am slowly working my way though it I have the new supports for the floor under the tank done and glassed on is installed in the boat but not glassed in place for obvious reasons. The puzzle peices are being built and its coming together. Now that I have robbed the space on someone else's thread I will start putting updates and pics on my rebuild thread.

Hey its no prob lol . I like hearing the updates . Ive went thru alot of the same things your going thru right now .

I have a buddy that his dad had the same set-up as you with the 150 and a jack plate he loved the 24 pitch chopper --- it would go 60's with 1/4 throttle left ( if you have the stones to go through the chine walk she fly ) ;) * and he didn't try to go past the chine walk much *

Thanks Reed,

I guess I need to put jack plate on this thing someday, but a overhaul is seriously needed before I go to far with it.

Anyone have any input on:

17 pitch Trophy Plus

vs.

17 pitch Revolution 4

For my setup ? Again looking for a good Wakeboard, tube, and full load of people prop.

Thx
