I'm selling my beautiful 1996 Checkmate Pulsare. It has a '96 225 EFI w/ very low hours. Both Engine and boat are stellar, honestly! Most factory options too. A hard deck to boot! C-Hawk Trailer w/ all new mechanicals and rubber. All ready to go. I'll even put a new battery in it! You want pic's, I'll send them to you. E mail me - nitrokills @ yahoo.com No tire kickers please! My husband and I love this boat, but we can't justify keeping it with the limited time we have to use it. No Dissapointments here! Its the real deal, a 10!

Hi EJ,

Sounds great, Pulsares are very much desired boats, especially a hard deck, that makes it even more attractive.

From my experience on this site, though much less than many other members, is that pictures really, really help. Send Chris a couple pics and I am sure he would be happy to post them here on this thread. Visual images often speak much better volumes than the written word!

Welcome to the board!

How much are you asking ?
Post some pics, they always sell easier if they can look at it.

Good luck with your sale.

Not certain about this, if I'm wrong I apologize, but if you check into this boat and the owners last name is Jodway near Devils Lake, MI I would turn and run. Roughly a month ago the made a deal, shook hands, took a down payment talked with us about picking the boat up after the snow melted and then backed out. If it's back up for sale now and you want to do business with that kind of person, do it at your own risk with warning of the consequences.

hoxsey, I also thought this was the same boat and it is.I thought good and hard about purchasing it before before you struck a deal. If I remember right they were asking $14,000 witch I thought was a fair price. Now their asking $16,000 for it.It is a very clean and well optioned pulsare but to rich for my blood at this time.

This guy should be banned from the board. He gave a sob story about why he couldn't sell it. Our deal was for $15,000. Now he's trying to sell for 16? <snip>

Laingsburg is about 30 minutes NE of Lansing. I Live on Lake Victoria, a small residential lake about a mile long. I'll be running for speed on Crooked and Walloon lakes this summer, I have friends with a place in Alansin.

OK Mr. Hoxey

You got your opinion in about me, maybe I deserved it. I never really got to talk to you about my reasons for backing out, you had your wife call instead. I did agree to offer you the boat if things on my end changed, but you bought a different boat. Since then, my family situation has changed, and the boat can be sold. I regret the entire incident. I offered an apology to your wife several times, That is all I can do. Calling me names won't change anything. You have my number, if you have something to say to me, call me.

Hoxey,What boat do you run on Lake Victoria?I have poured many yards of concrete in that area.Very nice neighborhood.Nice to see a fellow Michigander Checkmate fanatic!

Don't want to and will not get involved at all, but just have a simple question,

How come the boat, which is only getting older with every passing day and depreciating suddenly gone up $2000.....Were there some options recently added, such as a trailer, to warrant a price hike?

Just curious.

1 factor could be time of year now. Or their not in the biggest hurry to move the boat.Could be other reasons I won't speculate about them.

Let's clear a few things up here, Tweed. I called you about the boat being for sale, no indication it might not be for sale. I drove to your house (over an hour away) to look at the boat, no indication it might not be for sale. We talked for about an hour concerning the boat, no indication it might not be for sale. We agreed on a price, I shook your hand, looked you in the eyes and said "we have a deal, right?" to which you agreed with no indication that there were any circumstances under which we didn't have a deal. We sent you a check for the agreed upon down payment. You phoned us to acknowledge receipt and discuss pickup without any indication that there might be some reason the deal would fall through. A week later we get the check back in the mail with a very brief note saying things had changed, you couldn't sell the boat. Interestingly, you had a couple of inquiries on your boat on this board after I had already agreed to buy it. As soon as my wife informed me at work about you backing out I called you, I left a message on your machine, you know that. Laura was at home stewing and couldn't wait so she tried to call you and got through. Sob story, "man of my word", "I'll call you Monday to let you know", "If I do sell it I'll call you first", other assorted BS.

We waited until Tuesday, no word from you. We wanted a checkmate, you knew that, you knew we found your boat on this sight. You saw we were looking at other boats, I know that, I saw you logged on to the board after you pulled out of our deal. Never an indication from you that your boat might be back up for sale.

You appear to be saying that I was hiding behind my wife because she called you. Hmmm, let's take a look at the thread starter here. Why didn't you start the thread, Tweed? Guilty conscience? No time to use the boat or got another one coming, which is it? Anyone can see your previous reason for selling by looking at your posts.

I have no reason to call you, I'm not going to buy your boat. If you think you're going to sell that boat on this board without me calling you out, you're wrong. You are dishonest and I will clearly identify you as such to anyone I can.

Tweed and Hoxsey,

Settle down guys. Chalk it up to a bad experience for both parties. Perhaps if I may make a suggestion, and I know fully well that this is none of my darn business. But I am a board member myself. I don't want to get involved, but I will say this. Maybe you two should take this to a private messaging forum (i.e. email or phone) as this is personal and business information that should perhaps only be shared with each other, and not make it public.

Anyways, that's just my suggestion as I think it works best for both parties. I realize that there is hurt feelings, anger, and frustration, and rightly so, and is quite visible from both your writings. But I am sure that you both agree that perhaps this should be ironed out in a private forum.

Best of luck guys. Hope you can sort it out and move on to happier boating experiences! They do exist, I promise!!!!!

I feel a deal is a deal and all Hoxsey is doing is stating the facts and maybe saving some other buyer from wasting time driving to Tweed's place to view it and check it out ,then getting excited about their new boat and put a deposit down. Only to have someone back out ,then a slap in the face ,they put it back on the board for sale under a new name . I for one appreciate what Hoxsey has done . What if it had been a 8 hour drive and back and then they back out then relist. Thanks Hoxsey for the warning about these type of sellers.

Hey Bostoncan,

Don't get me wrong, I agree with your point and am glad that Hoxsey was nice enough to warn others on this board about a 'potential' poor dealer but I think that point was made several entries ago....I think the jabs should be left for a private message....that's all I was trying to say....Sorry, I should have made my point a bit more clear.

Good luck guys. I ain't saying any more.
