Boat landing Aholes

I used to get stressed out myself, but since my 11 year old son started making the comments to the idiot boaters I am way less stressed....it must really piss people off when an 11 year old tells them what they are doing wrong and how rude they are.....lmao!!!! Hopefully my daughter picks up on this soon, she is 6 and that would be hilarious to watch!!!

We came in off the water about 9pm last night. The local launch has 6 lanes. The right looking toward shore was filled up, the center was filled up, and the left one had 2 kids fishing on it. Right next to the "No fishing/swimming/etc..." signs. So I pull up, ask nice for them to move to the other side at least, at that moment, the one kid starts to run his mouth. So I asked again, to move his gear, explained its a boat launch, etc. So I step off the boat ONTO his fishing pole that was touching the side of my boat due to him moving it, and broke it in half, he wasn't happy, but hey, I pointed to the sign and said "SORRY". Then he's parked next to my truck, so he comes running up, I asked, "where's your parking permit?" He says "What?" I said yea, I pay 35.00/yr to park in this lot and use this launch, so now your not only fishing illegally, but your parked illegally, and your tiny car is taking up a truck/trailer spot. By then I had backed my trailer up so he couldn't leave, I took down his license plate number as he kept trying to come out, soon after I pulled my boat out and was wiping it down/etc in the grass well away from the action, he comes up next to us yelling at me to pay for his pole. At that moment, the cop who patrols the lot frequently (local Barney Fife) pulls in, and I tell him the story while the kid tries to interupt. He wrote them a ticket for parking in the lot, and told them to quit fishing off the docks. He also explained that we have a fishing bridge, and a fishing platform a block away for this stuff, the kid was pretty snotty with the officer, at 17yo, he needed a good a$$kickin' to learn some respect...

So I'm the PIA sometimes. Before I leave home I get my boat ready. I even put it on the hose and makes sure it takes less than the normal time to get my ole carbed girl running so I dont take up the time at the ramp. I always make sure I have my fenders ready, lines ready, and of course the plug in :D. I have a check list just to make sure I don't do something stupid.

But pulling it out, I'm telling ya I need to have my trailer set up differently or something. I need those carpeted side bunks to guide it in, as 25% of the time if there is any current around me the boat isn't going to rest centered on the bunks and I have to back it down in again and realign it.

Luckily for me, only once did I have people waiting on me. I've launched this thing 25 - 30 times now and I feel pretty darn comfortable doing it but pulling it out almost always feels like a crap shoot.

Sounds like you might have your trailer just a tad too deep when you take your boat out.

I taught someone this Saturday at the launch when they backed in 4 times to get it centered, they were new to boating so I was helping them. They backed the truck right down in til the wheels were almost burried so they didn't have to winch, well the back of the boat was floating, it ended up on the fender the second time (YIKES!). I said yes, deep when you put in, but not so deep when you pull the boat out. I back in until about 1" of my fenders are sticking above the water, and have to crank my boat up about 3' each time, but it always centers itself this way too...

Same here. The ramp I use is very steep so by the time the fenders are underwater or even nearly under, the rear of the boat is WAY off the trailer and to make matters worse the bottom of the lake is uneven by a few inches which puts the trailer at a tilt. I have to winch up the last 4 feet or so but the boat centers nicely and my feet stay dry.

I'll share this one again, not a Ahole but a little ole' lady. I was up in Topermory, Canada. a single space ramp right in the harbor/town. Tourest everywhere, I go to back it in a really steep ramp. A guy with his family yells to me to stop (1 person out of a 100's). I'm like they are ducks, they will move. So I continue down and he starts to run to me so I stop. I get out to see what the proplem is, There is a 80yr+ lady, that in the time it took me to walk from the rear of the boat to my truck cab(this is all within 20ft from the waterline) she decided it was a good time for her little rat dog to get a drink. She was completely oblivious that she was 5 seconds from being either ran over or pushed into fridged 10+ft deep water. I'd would of spent my vacation a guest of the O.P.P. I just let her finish her business and let her waddle away, thanked the gentleman for saving my best vaction ever.

P.S. Topermory is a beautiful place to vist and boat!
