Boat Name

rockets 86

Active member
Been struggling with a name for my "86 Enchanter. Was hoping to get some feedback from you guys. I have come up with one " Eighty six'd" It's the only one I have so far. But truthfully, between the boat and I, the boat has never been kicked out of anywhere!

This seems to come up a lot, I NEED A NAME FOR MY BOAT. The best name for any boat that will make you happy is a name that will just pop in your head out of the blue. Why is it we must name are boats, do we plaster names on the back of all are cars or motorcycles. Some boats must be named do to type of registration.

I have named a few things, but that was because thats what I seen when I looked at it and the name poped in my head out of the blue. If you must try so hard to come up with a name then its the wrong name and you will never be happy.

I came up with "Wasted Income" as I was doing income taxes. I made the comment "I wasted most of my investment income on my boat, can I write that off?" My tax lady laughed the entire time it took to finish my taxes. When I was leaving, she said she was going to tell a couple other people she knows that are boaters. From there I told a few close friends with the same responce. To this day, I can not go to the lake without someone saying something and laughing.

My next boat will be documented so I will have to name it. I got an idea that is a play on that name as well

I call all my hot rod boats bad bob, a friends 4 year old son started that, one day out at the beach he told his dad he wanted to ride in bad bob and when he asked him about it the kid said well its bad and it bobs in the water..........LMAO :D

google 'boat names' and there are a few websites that compiled hundreds of them. Red is right, it has to be personal to a degree and just putting a cookie cutter boat name means you have no real reason to have it there in the first place.

I've been like Big Red with my vehicles until a little tiny has said something like "Bad Bob" etc, or YF's tax appointment. I liked the idea changing it from eighty six"d to eighty six'n! Makes more sense when it was said like that. That's why I come to this site. Bad or good, I know I'm getting honest opinions! And I'll take both! When I bought my Check, I wasn't new to boating (been a few years tho) but new to one like this one. This site has been both informational and fun! Everyone on here is so willing to share their knowledge and especially their humor! But most of all, it's from the heart and with the best intentions. I just did a prop swap with SIM! Where else would I be able to trust sending out a prop to a stranger and sleep good at night knowing it's all good!?! On the internet of all places! I look forward to Big Red's sarcasm and his vast knowledge. To YF's re-builds and help, to JIMWAY's sharkbait stories, to Keith posting the bikini pics and for our shared love for all of them! To SIPPYRAT buying us a beer! And saving up for next years rally! BADBK and his service to our country, my list goes on and on!. There's not enough room to mention all who's put a smile out there! And most of all for Chris for starting this whole wonderful mess! Thanks to all and I SO look forward to sometime meeting you all! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Rocket, you're sh!++!n on your own thread dude! Leave those sappy "thank you" posts for another thread and lets talk boat names!:rof: just messin with you man! but seriously imo its bad luck not to name your boat and you have had enough of that already. The name has to be your own and usually has meaning unique to your boat, life or career. Like i've said before many people name their boats after their career. Some people think we name are boats to be cool but they have no idea!

Just don't use my boat name :D

When you're ready for vinyl head over to NEXGEN he does great work

Oh and i would buy you a beer if you would ever use that "red rocket" of yours!

There was a Senator that used to run the CT river back in the late 80s named "It's Your Move". I always thought that was a great name for a Checkmate. Incedentally, I "made my move" with my Stingray... and he handed me my ass on a silver platter.

I have been seriously considering FIRE ESCAPE, but I recently saw a picture of a totally badass Cigarette 28 Top Gun that was named Fire Escape II and I think naming my boat that would be really anticlimactic after seeing that.

my dog had a red rocket the other day so i think im going with that as i was thinking of a name just kind of happened.. lol sick i know.

I'd like to bring this thread back to life. Rocket you can't just leave us hangin! I see you've been lurkin around the site. What's up?:popcorn:

Lurking???? Done for the year and out of beer! The leak in the gas tank shut me down, especially after seeing Yellow's Enchanter! Trying to figure out how to contact Checkmate and see if they have one. Or find someone who does. How's the boat shopping going?

BTW, that was a 38 Top Gun, not a 28:shakehead:. The forum would not let me go back and edit it.

you could start by calling them:rof: they may have something but you might have better luck posting it up here and see where it takes you. is it an aluminum tank? it might be repairable.
