Trying to figure out value of my 1989 251 Convincor. 380 total 185 on 454 mag.
Very good condition. New Bravo magnum seacore transom assembly. Upgraded performance marine exhaust. Replaced sea water pump, circulating pump, all new hoses, new alternator. new motor mounts.
Nada book value says 7000 How can this be?

Nada is no good for used boat pricing. Nada has been messed up by lots of sales being documented for less then what they really where to avoid paying the full amount tax. Basically weve screwed ourselves.

The best way to price it imo is to look at comparable ones and get a fiqure based on what others are selling for.

Im nada big fan of nada. It is worth what someone will pay for it. Put up some pics an im sure you can get a better evaluation from the forum members. Sometimes nada is way out of line and that price is more than likely boat only without trailer and credit towards extremely low hours. Less than 15 hours a season.

You have to host them on photobucket or similar then copy and paste into your thread. I still have to have my son or wife do mine. Im not good on the computer. Or email to someone to do it for you. I know you can do it Macho.

I agree with NADA being inaccurate. Last month I bought a 1990 251 in good condition with the trailer for $9k. I looked at three other boats similar years, make and models and they ranged from $4k (blown engine but a solid boat) to $16k (looked brand new, lots of extras and 50 hours on new engine and drive). The $16k boat was worth it but I didn't have the money to buy it and still do some of the things I wanted so I bought what I could afford. I thought $9k was a good price for mine. It has ~100 hours on a very well built 518ci engine, maintenance receipts for work done going back 10 years, solid floors and good finish on the exterior. My cabin in stripped down except for carpet and it needs some TLC to bring the cockpit up to what I want but mechanically and structurally everything is great. Mine is posted in the Members Introduction section from last week I think if you want to see the pictures and use that as a gauge. I hope this helped.

these boats are priced all over 9k to 16k and more.
My 251 is only a few years newer ( 1992) still from the same era and
I paid a little over 16 for mine. I looked at 3 others before I picked
this 1. I dont know what site the bank used but thay said the trailer
was worth around 2k and the whole package over 18k maybe more.
Ill have to ask them, might be helpful.
Anyway post pics, I finaly figured it out, now seems easy.

My 251 is only a few years newer ( 1992) still from the same era and
I paid a little over 16 for mine.

From the pictures of Wrenchmate's boat I would have gladly paid $18-20k for that boat, if I had the money. His boat is on par with the boat I found locally for $16k and as I said, I thought that was an extremely good boat for the money.

My local credit union said they use NADA for a general guide if you wanted a loan sight-unseen. If you wanted more than NADA I could have taken the boat to them and they would have done a fair market apprasial to evaluate its worth. I was fortunate enough to not need them this go-round but I definitly thought about borrowing some money to get the nicer boat. My wife and my general loathing of payments put me in the $9k boat.
