change avitar photo

Can someone tell me how to put the pic of my boat in picture this in my avitar, and members rides?

Guys,

You can do it yourself. In your profile where it says avatar, you pick custom avatar. Then you just put the url of the photo you want to show in the address box. It's as simple as that.

Hey chris: I don't want to sound completely computer stupid, but I pretty much am, what is a url, and how do I find it?

I really want the pic of my boat to pop up every time I post. I hope some one can help out a computer dumb old body man. ( maybe too many paint fumes over the years)

Basically a url, is the address for the pic. To find it, you just have to right click on a pic and then click properties from the list that pops up. That is the address for the pic. Anything hosted on our servers, will be something like....

"http://checkmate-boats.com/images/memberpics/*****.jpg"

Click the tab on the top that says "Go" then "My Space" then "Profile" that should open a screen where you can change your personal settings.

On the top right hand side, it should say "View/Edit Complete Profile". Click that. A new screen will open up which has areas where you can edit your personal info. Scroll down and you will find a field that says Avatar/Picture URL. Click "Edit". A little box will then open up which will have a few stock avatars which you can choose if you like. If you want a custom one, click Custom Avatar which is near the top of the screen. The you click "url fro your custom avatar". Put the url/address for the pic you want to use in that box. Click update avatar. The box will close. Scroll down to the bottom of the profile screen and hit submit.

That should work.

I dont like being a pain either(maybe Im dumber than I thought)but, I followed your instructions and I got to the avatar selections, and I could not see anything that said custom.

Oh also when I was back in the edit personal profile area, there was a spot that said change url, so I did, but nothing happened.(Im sure that was the wrong thing to do.

The custom part section is at the top of the screen where you see the standard avatars shown.

If you look above those, you'll see a spot where it says....

Avatar Set|Custom Avatar

Click on Custom Avatar and that will open up a box where you can select enter the url for your custom avatar.

I'm really sorry chris but, I have looked all over that screen, I have seen the spot where it says avatar set, but I cant see anyplace anywhere that says custom.

I see on the left side of the selection box where it says choose this one, cancel, or, no avatar, there ia a empty box with a red "x" in the lower rt. corner, I'm just not having any luck doing this I know my eyes are not the best, but they can't be that bad

anything else you can do? I would really appreciate it.

I don't feel quite so bad reading that I'm not the only one that cant get it done. It looks like we are in the same boat

. Hopefully chris can help us all out.(I'm pretty computer stupid)but I can straighten any vehicle and make it look new again.

Can you email me your password. I'm going to go into your profile and check this out for you. We have lots of members that have set there own avatars, so I can't understand why the field doesn't seem to be there for you.

Once I've checked it out, you can reset your password to something new.
