Are any of these locations small boat friendly?

Where ever it happens to be, I will be there with my 18'-6" exciter. I don't know much about the OC, MD or the upper Chesapeake loacation (C&D Canal area?) but I know that LBI is good for smaller boats.:thumb: Maybe someone else will chime in on the other two locations.

Here is a picture from the tower of my dads boat in Barnegat Light, NJ (LBI) It is the north end of LBI and the picture is looking north towards the light house and Island Beach State Park.

Lbi for the most part is small boat friendly, Jetmate says that ocean city in the back bays are also small boat friendly. North chesapeake is iffy on small boats. it can calm at sometimes but it has its moments.

I'm good with all three.
I know its a ride for the north guys, but I have a cottage house on the Rappahannock river VA. Can sleep 15 in house and dock as many as come.Always smooth river water. Have a beach, grill and good time.
Just an option. like I said I'm good for whatever

thats a nice place but i don't think the guys from north will make that kind of travel. thats almost 5 hours for me so they would be a lot longer of a drive.

Saw your pictures and said to myself "absolutely, looks great!" Then I checked on Center Cross and saw that it's over 5 hours.
Thanks so much for the invite. Looks really terrific there.

I knew it would be to far for most. I was just offering. Figured it would only cost everyone gas money to have a good time. I'm in where ever so I vote for all.

On a side note, I go there a few times a year if any ones close and wants to come hang out.

My uncle has a house in Onancock, which I plan to take a long weekend at this upcoming summer. Your place doesn't seem to be too far away by water. I will shoot you a PM when I figure out a date to see if you will be around.

Here is a link for a great chart site... zoom to the needed area and check full page. you can also slide the coverage bar for sat image and actual chart. http://marine.geogarage.com/routes

additionally, here are some pictures of LBI area. I don't seem to have many of the bay that aren't fishing pics. Hopefully Skatr joins in and posts some pics from his area of the bay.

A nice spot to anchor up on the west side or High Bar Harbor - waist deep water

What about Raystown or the Adirondacks? Not sure if either is small boat friendly, but may be more inviting for the northerners. I'm pretty sure there are S&F get togethers at each of these.

we were kind of looking for something in the chesapeake area or sort of. the Adirondacks are 5 1/2 hours from me in pa so the md guys would be somewhere around 7 to 8 hours no traffic. for raystown i figured they had an event out there already at the end of the year, its not a checkmate gathering but still a good time with other boaters and gonna be a 8 to 10 hour ride for the guys up north if they decided to go. just figured we never have anything around here close enough for ct guys to md guys to come to within a 4 hour ride at most

I don't think Raystown Lake would be any closer from the north or south than Long Beach Island. They are almost on the same N/S line of latitude. It may be more appealing to anyone traveling from west to east and those that would prefer fresh water. The Adirondacks would be a long drive from guys in MD, and VA. Hunter Mountain NY is about 4-5hrs from me and MD is about 3hrs from me. That leaves the southern guys with a 6-8hr ride. I'm in for adding Raystown lake, but I think the Adirondacks may be out of the question.

We need more input from all interested parties; IE votes for location, desired locations, who may be attending etc... There have only been a few of us throwing ideas around. Spring time will be here before we know it, and locations will start to book full before that. The sooner we can iron out the location and dates, the sooner we can lock in the exact location - Marina, lodging etc..

i wouldn't mind raystown lake, been wanting to go there to. i tried to add raystown to the poll but not sure if i can. if someone can let me know how to do it i will add it to the poll

it ends on jan 21. i ran it for 60 days. figured that would be long enough. after we figure out the location still have to find places to go, time of year to go so i didn't want to go into spring and run out of time. plus people need to prepare for it also. maybe we will get some more votes from other people. just cant believe that there are only 3 people in 6 states that own checkmates that might want to go
