"Wanted" Checkmate Trim Tabs

I was looking for a set of those trim tabs about a month or two ago. I found a lot of older checkmate boats on craigslist that had them. It's pretty hard to find someone selling just the trim tabs. It took a while until I found one that the owner was willing to part the trim tabs out. I got lucky and found a seller that wasn't very knowledgeable so I got a very good deal.

Scouring eBay and Craigslist seems like the best route if nothing comes available here. In regards to Craigslist, I can't seem to find anything locally (Seattle, WA) so I'm looking through every town in OH, MI, FL, and in between!!! LOL!

That's exactly what I did. I found them in Detroit and I live in Illinois. The guy shipped them to me for $20. I have a 1970 MX-14 so it's a foot longer than yours but it should still look similar to this. I don't have them in the exact location they should be in but it's pretty close. I just wanted to see what they will look like when I got them.

Just emailed Kip Combs as well to see if they have any left around the factory. Craigslist scouring has been fruitless thus far.

No luck there although I will say that Kip was very responsive as always. I've got eBay notifications and looking at Craigslist now and then until I find them.

That was me! Haha sorry about that. Like I said I got those about a month ago. The guy said he was just going to hang them in his garage because they looked so cool.

I don't get online much any more need to take my lap in to be fixed . I sneak on when at my parents house lol . the Checkmate trim tabs really do keep the boat nice and straight at speed . I have never had my boat chine walk either . It sits really nice on the pad .

I was going to get these from the guy but he stop responding to me.
They are a bit damaged and need repair.
I offered him $100 plus shipping, told him I did not care if they were damaged.
Everything was good and he just stop emailing me so give him a try.
Just don`t hold you breath.

No luck still? I haven't contacted him yet. Maybe he's only interested in getting rid of the whole boat and doesn't want to deal with removing the tabs.

I tried finding a set yrs ago w/no luck.
Talked to the factory ( I lived an hr away at the time) and they said they were cast by a factory in town that was no longer in business and they were getting very hard to come by.
That was probably 20 yrs ago!

I made my own and have made several sets and is fairly easy to do.
