Cleaning the fuel tank????

Most auto parts stores will have the fuel fill and vent hose in stock. It may save you a few bucks and a lot of hassle. Just bring in a short section of the pieces you cut off, and tell the counter guy what how much you want. they ususlly sell it by the foot.

Hey SB-77, I'm thinking that you are going to have to be careful with the heat gun. It may be a possible source of a spark when running. Don't want no flames going on. The motor in the heat gun would be very similar to the motor in a vacuum. Hope you get her fixed so you can spend some time on the water. I'm pre flighting the Mate this afternoon. Have made some more modifications and expecting a couple of more mph, we'll see. Also, after you get the hose end warmed up, give it a twist sideways to break the seal, hopefully it comes right off.

Also backflush the fuel pickup line to maybe clean it out, and check the anti syphon fitting for debris also.

Got the tank out. Wow what a pain. I cleaned the area and vacuumed the area. Than I got the tank emptied the rest of the gas into a container. I decreased the exterior of the tank. And I used mineral spirits inside the tank. Shake it up really well. Now I'm letting it dry over night. I also removed the filler hose and breather hose. I hope I've done everything I needed to do.

Hey SB-77, did you find anything in the tank when you cleaned it? Boat looks nice. Thanks for sharing pictures. Spent all day at the water, Mate running strong. Much excitment at boat launch when leaving. Gal tried to back into me while raising her motor. The prop on her motor looked really big while it was spinning right next to the bow of the mate. Backed out in a hurry, It was really close.

I didn't find anything in the tank. I cleaned it really good, let it dry over night and reinstalled it Saturday with new hoses and new filter. Maybe the problem is gone. I didn't get a chance to run it. I had a weekend of easter eggs decorating and Easter egg hunts. I have an 8 year old daughter. I'm going out next Saturday. I'll try to take some pictures on the water and post them.
