enchanter setup

Well guys I'm working on gettin my enchanter tuned in. It's a 78 20 foot enchanter with a 200 black max solid mounts bobs exhaust housing an cle lower Hung on a 12 setback rapid jack magnum right now running a 24 chopper 5900 at 70 mph at 2 inches under the pad just picked up a 26 trophy plus think this prop will work better what's the next step I'd like to get 75 out of it is it possible

I have a bone stock 200efi Merc on my 1979 Enchanter. 25P Yamaha drag prop 5900 rpm @69.8mph Bolted to boat.
 
whats the question?? i have a 1980 enchanter with a 200 black max w/trophy plus...was getting the same speed without set back....I just did alot to mine including adding 12 inch set back

My dad had an 84 enchanter which I believe is about 250lbs lighter than yours, with a 2.4 200 with shaved heads, x-drilled intake and wh-22 carbs with 5.5" setback running 3" below the pad with a standard gear case spinning a 25p trophy was running 74.8 on GPS. I tried to run at 2" and it was slower, I couldn't get the lift.

I could get just over 70 with a crappy running 2.4 200 before we changed out the powerhead.

The CLE is probably not helping you on that boat, I have read posts with guys running faster with standard gear cases on these larger boats. From my past readings most feel until you get 80+mph the CLE and nose coned cases are not very beneficial.

Im no expert, however i do listen alot...What i hear is there no substitute for horse power..:lol:, probably why Kalugs dad is getting 75. Im not sure the lower unit is slowing you down, but its probly not helping. Lighten the load and check the hull for hook....2 inch below the pad sounds high...although I was surprised on what difference a prop makes...

Thanks for the info what pitch trophy are u running how far under the pad what kind of numbers have u seen with the setback. I got to run the boat some last week with a 26 trophy handled way better didn't get to play with the setup too much like I was hoping too Damnbeers an girl will do that. Come the end if the month when I get home hoping to be able to fine tune the setup an try a 24 trophy

im running a 24 p...I had no set back and was well under the pad when i hit 70...i now have the same 24p- 4 blade trophy plus with 12 inches of set back...i havent had it out yet...but im starting at 3.5 below the pad or 4.5 to the cavitation plate above the pad...tryin it out next weekend...ill let you know how it does...

funny you say that...not old in anyway...as a matter of fact, only got out 4 times last summer. Busy building theses mansions!...

Last run was 75 gps. It was a bit hairy almost a little unstable. It seems With the blue printing and mods to the hull I have plenty of lift with out the need for much trim. I almost feel like more stern lift is needed. Still getting use to hydro steering, real touchy.... Either that or i need to put on my big boy pants and push through the chine walk. That been said, i feel this ship has more than 75 in her...Ill let you know how this summer goes. One thing i still need is a wind faring, its a bit breezy at 75 :drool:

Last year was fun, just enjoyed what she had in her. Everything we did has help up well. Solid hull for sure. I played with height and trim to try and push a little more than 75, but thats where she holds. Im thinking, as its been said before, more horse power would push through that mark. I havent tried any other prop yet. but the rpms seem right...I need to get a small faring on her too...the wind is a bit much at that speed, thanks for checking in...here a vid of our first run......
