Has anybody run a Fury prop on a 24' Checkmate?
Dean at Checkmate is trying get a hold of a Bravo XS for me to try. I would also like to try a Fury. Currently running a 25P Tempest Plus or a 25P Trophy Plus. The engine is set back 15" and the prop shaft is 3" below the vee. What set up are you running?
I only have a 6"setback but I did start with a 23 tempest plus, tried a 24 std bravo, 24 rev 4 , 24 tempest plus and a 24 enertia. Out of all the std bravo had the best hole shot and mid range power but I lost about 3 mph top end. Then I tried the bravo fs and gained my top end back with all of the other performance features I mentioned with the std bravo. I even had the std bravo labbed by bblades and didnt perform even close to the fs. They went way to aggressive with the cup height. I need to send it back for them to adjust close to what the fs is performing at. So far with the fs I was able to increase the engine height by 1/2" to 1" below the pad. Do some reading up on the xs so you know what to expect. You may need to increase engine height for best results. I have a hydraulic set back so very easy for me.
What pitch on the Bravo FS did you run?
Merc 225-
I think we have chatted in the past. I also have been working with Dean at Checkmate on prop tuning for my '14 Pulsare 2400. He said he spoke with merc Racing techs who strongly recommended the fury for our boats. This is after I landed on a 27 Tempest and 75 mph on gps. Although pleased, I am absolutely
Still going to order and try a Fury, although probably 1 pitch down at a 26.
Interested in your results for sure... As I just pulled boat out today for the season. Good luck!!!
Dean
Latest results are 73 GPS at 5835 RPM's running a 25 Tempest Plus. Still want to get a hold of a Fury and a Bravo XS.
My Starlner has a 250 pro xs, 5 inch set back and a 25 fury, I will let you know how it runs when the weather breaks. Should see mid 70's I hope
The weather broke weeks ago! Throw on a jacket and hit the water!!!
I hit the water with her on last day of March last season.![]()
