Anyone know how to wire up the tach, trim gauge, and speedometer? I know theirs a sensor for the trim gauge, but were is it what should it look like. Also were is the speedometer wire into? for the tach i heard stories of fire from it wired wrong any input?

A few things first...What kind of a control box do you have ( Flush mount or side mount?) , do you have a pitot tube already mounted on the back of the boat? ( your motor has a built-in one) , and are there any gauge's already existing in the boat w/ any wiring or harnesses?

I have a omc control box, side mount. It has pitot tube out back side, however it seems like wires are missing. Also there are all the factor gauges but all wiring is cut

Everything is cut as in as in " It's all been removed?" or just disconnected?

Your speedo will be the easiest. Just buy some speedo tube hose and connect it to the hose barb on the back of the gauge. Run the hose from the back of your dash through and down the inside of your gunwale to the rear inside of the transom. Now if you do have that pitot tube already installed you you might as well re-connect this hose to it. Put a "ziptie" on both ends of this hose ( Gauge and Pitot ) to make sure you have a sealed connection. That should take care of the speedometer.

More to come once we know about the wiring...

You PM..ed me about your problems and where to set the idle from. When you pull the cowl off and face the powerhead from inside the boat the " Idle Stop" screw is on your LH side on the throttle lever. It has a large black plastic cap on the one end of it that " Stops" the advance of the throttle motion.

If you look at this you will see how to move it one way or the the other ( in/out) to raise or lower you throttle RPM/speed. It works somewhat independently of your throttle cables and yet they must be adjusted properly too so as to have full WOT and completely "closed" carb settings at idle.

If you have no wiring at all on your gauges then you are going to need a shop manual to give you the wiring diagram and color codes as to which wire that will go back to the gauge and each particular harness available for that motor's trim and tach. The tach is probably OK regarding what pole setting it's at if it had a 2-stroke motor running on it. But you'll have to test it once you're up and running as to it's accuracy.
I do believe that the tach has a harness that plug's into the control box and the trim sender also can be wired into the controls. It's been awhile since I've rigged an OMC from "bare bones." " Wide Open" would probably know about the trim sender more specfically.

I hope this helps.
