Hot Foot Question

Do you actually remove the throttle cable from the control box and hook it directly to the Hot Foot? I assume you do, thereby totally eliminating the hand controlled throttle and warm up lever. That's what I would like to do but I wanted to be sure.

I guess cold starting the motor from the ground with the boat on the trailer would be a pain without the warmup lever, but I guess it's a tradeoff.
 
Unfortunately, the addition of the hot foot eliminates the warm up lever. But being able to keep both hands on the wheel while operating the boat far outweighs having to get in the boat to perform a cold start.
 
You leave the shift cable hooked up to the control lever. The lever becomes just a shifter for forward, neutral and reverse. Make sure you have a good spring on the foot throttle and that the foot throttle you get has "top foot pull" just in case of emergency or throttle getting stuck. T&T is a popular, well made foot throttle.
 
Look into a Land & Sea foot throddle.Its the only 1 that allows you to keep the use of both the hand lever and foot pedal. Real handy when putting around or like you say starting up on the trailer.I've had 1 for apx 8 yrs.
 
Merc245, I also have the Land an Sea unit and was going to recommend it but it is no longer on the Land and Sea website. I think they may have quit making them. If you do find them please post as I really like mine.

I think I'd rather just go ahead and disable the hand throttle anyway. I think I had seen one like the Land & Sea, that's why I wanted to double check how most of the others worked. The Hot Foot Brand does have the toe clip so that you could pull back if you had to. I think the top load Hot Foot would be best for me. That would keep the cockpit cleaner looking.

I just have to figure out where to mount it. My V-Mate II doesn't have much floorboard, and I wear a size 15 shoe so I need some space....

No not bragging, just the facts.

I will say that it's easier to find a size 15 shoe now than it was 15 years ago when I went up to that size. My shoe size was keeping up with my age for a few years. I was scared to death when I turned 16.

One of my best buddies wears a 13, and from what his wife says, he's the man. Maybe that's the peak.....or the majic number......15 has been a good conversation starter at times though.....and I can't complain.......
 
on second thought, Coordination and Footspeed. I will complain about those. I played baseball in highschool, and everybody said I looked like I was either dragging a plow or pushing a wheelbarrow. That's where the bullittben nickname came from. It wasn't a compliment.

Oh well....At least if I threaten to put my foot up someone's rear it is a good threat......
 
i have a hot foot as well. it is a must for my set up. i would like to have the land and sea though. i need a stronger spring to bring the pedal back.
