How can I fix this ?

I went for a ride about an hour ago and stopped at my brother inlaws for 10 minutes, the water is low but it is all sand in front of his dock so I did what I usually do stop the boat lifted the motor and walked the boat in and stood in the water holding it. Well the ass end drifted in a bit and touched a rock that was in the sand and it took a dime size chip out of the pad area of the bottom of the boat tick me off :brickwall: It chipped enough that it took the white paint off and you can see the black resign underneath.

I am no bodyman but what the best way to touch up that little spot so it does not show ? I am so mad my boat has never had a mark on it until today ! There goes my whole weekend this is going to bother me to no end now ! :pissed::pissed:

Assuming your boat has never been painted. It is gelcoat. To fix it perfectly call the factory and have them send you some. They may not be able to do that with you being in Canada but may be able to refer you to a supplier.

Gel coat is easy to work with. Mix with some hardener slop it is. Use a littl;e scotch tape over it to keep it from drooping. Then sand. If you need more slop some in and sand again. Then buff and polish. If you got the right shade you will never see it.
 
I feel your pain!! My boat broke loose and bashed between a rock wall and a pontoon boat for and hour,
Go on youtube and look for gelcoat repair it looks pretty straight forward if you use the paste. color matching will probly be the hardest part. you can get a repair kit at west marine or on line for 30-40 bucks
 
Bigmoss,if you want it done by expert,call Fibernew at 819-773-9494.He is not cheap,but the chip will be invisible..(local guy Gatineau)
 
Very easy to fix..Hit West Marine for a gelcoat patch kit or buy some gelcoat paste and some white pigment. Tape off the area to be repaired, sand the area to remove any loose material, mix the paste with the catalyst and pigment, allow it to tack up, and use a small putty knive to shape it into the repair. Let her dry, sand it smooth, hit it with a highspeed wheel and polish and you're good as new!!
 
Thanks for the reply guys even though West Marine has a Canadian page they kit is showing as hazardous and they wont ship so I will call them tom and see what we can do.

You can ship hazardous from the states - see if the factory to send you the right stuff - purolator will ship it - from the states they partner with airborne express I think.
The repair is pretty straight forward. If CM can't send it then you can order it from spectrum color in seattle
 
There is a pretty big marine and sailboat supply store here in Ottawa called the Chandlery I am going to check there tom first and then if they dont have any kits I will look into that route thanks !
 
Just be sure to get it fixed ASAP. Fiberglass is porus and the last thing you want is the Balsa Coring getting ANY water in it, period.
 
It is on a lift when not in use and it is coming out in 2 weeks and then I will work on in then and make sure it is done right, hopefully I am good until them
