Hull #'s

I wanted to see if you fellow checkmaters could desifer this ser# for me as I know you have factory conections and could mabey help, as I stated in a prior post I had a heck of a time trying to get these #'s to show,also I made a incorrect statement in saying they were on the left upper transom, they are on they right upper transom and are not seen when the deck is in place, they read a follows, either its #H5T30005O773
OR #HST3000SO773
Any help from the pros would really be a blessing in this restoration of this hull as it means alot to me to make this prodject correct. Thank you very much for your time and effort! your fellow checkmater.

Its a 73. Last 2 numbers are year, don't know any more then that!

So far I've been told its a 74, 71, 73 and a 70, all by folks who say they know for shure! I'am really rather confused, the paper work says 74 but the man at the reg office says that the people who reg,ed the boat orig used the engine year that the boat came with instead of the boat year model, the engine is a 74, does anyone really know? the best that I can tell from looking at this forum is that it's a 70? and a man who came to look at the hull and said he's owned a few of them, sayed it's a for shure 1970 ckeckmate mx15 as he owned a 70 14 footer. Anyways thats why I put in this post, Thank you for your insight and telling me that the last two #'s are the year model, might be trackin down the seller soon to buy him a casket, Thank you.

I don't know if they the factory ever changed the way they do things, but for as long as I have known the last two digits are the year.

the 12 digit hull id number "HIN" was not implemented until November 1972, so your mx-15 is a 1972 or newer. If you then look at your HIN you can find out more info:

#H5T30005O773 OR #HST3000SO773

1. the last four digits are the month and year (MMYY=0773) the boat was built, so your boat was built in July 1973

2. the first three characters should be letters i think, and are the manufacturer's code (HST or H5T) which is obviously Checkmate and most likely (HST)

3. the middle five characters are numbers that are the hull serial number, so your hull's serial number is (30005)

To find out the color and other details about your boat and where it was originally sold can be found out by calling checkmate directly, there is an older gentleman who i got to after talking to 4 other people that had all the info, he said he had been working there when my mx-15 was built (1972). since my hull was built pre-HIN numbers all I had was the 4 digit serial number from the hp/capacity plate and i still found out a bunch of info about my boat. viper how do you come to that conclusion? I'm not saying your wrong I'm just curious, because that goes against all the info I found when I was ID'ing my MX-15. Is "action marine" a special model or something?

Checkmate 1970 MX-15

Alex Because that MX-15 Hull in MXER15 Member's pictures was the Very First Checkmate MX-15 Model built in 1970 by Checkmate Boats. In 1971 Checkmate made the MX-15 Wider and it had a different Deck Style as was the case with the 1972 Checkmate MX-15, once again a Different Deck Style than the 1971 MX-15 model. As for the hull id number that is on his boat, it is Not the Original hull id number. There are People out there that have Changed hull id number's on all kinds of Boats over the years for What ever Reason they had. You are right about the last 2 numbers being the year as long as nobody has changed them. Thank you! I,ve been going back and forth for quiet some time talking to several people who know this boat model, and they are all at least in the correct time frame, but you are q'ed to be the man who knows, I really thank you for your taking the time to even care, and thats why I posted, I was shure that I would get a heads up here and now I really am getting down to the real deal, I'am willing to put everything into this hull that I can but it's like a car resto, you want to know the trueth befor you make a fool out of yourself, if its a scam or stolen then I want to know! and if I've been scamed, then the next step is to go to the police and have them take it from there! and if so, see that the police get the boat back to it's rightfull owner, then my dream will become a loss and I will have to start all over again, tally so far 2000.00 dollers, scamer here I come, potato-potato,prump-prump!!!. Thank you kindly sam!
