My buddy has two jet boats and they are a blast. He has a big block 79 Carlson CVX19 and has a big block 74 Eliminator. I think my next checkmate needs to be a jet. If yall have any jet boat pics please post them. Thanks Fred.

My fathers '77 Caribbean jet. 460ci Ford, lots of goodies, he bought it new in '77 and still has it, boat looks brand new :D

Nice jet boat

Storz that is a good looking classic jet boat. How long has he had it and did he have other jet's in the past?

I just picked up our second boat. A project jet boat.

I couldn't find a Checkmate jet project so I had to jumped ship:shakehead: I juat got this rough 1978 CVX 20 jet on E-bay. It's about 250 miles away and I need to go drag it home and see what kind of mess I'm in for. It's in bad shape, no motor, condition of pump unknown but the seller tells me the hull is good and solid so I plan on a rebuild. The wife went for a ride in my friends 1970 Carlson CV19 jet and just loved it. This is going to be my second try at rebuilding a boat. Hope I learned a thing or two on the firest boat. I think it is going to be fun if I take my time.66_12a.jpg

Some "DA" cut the center section out of the engine hatch

The good thing is that the outer part of the hatch is there so I do have something to work with. I hope I'm not getting in over my head with this one. It's in really rough shape but I like it. Check out the weeds growig up out of it. b9_12a.jpg

As soon as you get it on the water, get a Place Diverter!!!
Manual or hydraulic control up and down of the nozzle. Put one on the cvx21 jet I used to have and you could not tell the wake from a stern drive, and as quick as you could throw the lever, go to 16 ft tall rooster tails(never run a 455 olds- I put 5 into that boat at 2500.00 each never got more than 20 hours out of one)

Wicked,
My neighbor had the same jet boat about 15-20 years ago. I may be able to dig up an old pictures. His motor quit while at WOT and drove it into a wall. He was fine. The boat was in need of major repair. Good luck and keepus posted on the progress.
