I'm starting to like Jet drives

H-Bar failure, it got all twisted up and wiped out the suction housing at the packing gland, it sank in seconds :yell: he is going with a solid shaft this time.

Wow, glad the boat was saved!! I've been fooling around with jets for a long time, so your saying it had a two piece shaft?

It had the standard twin U joint coupler, you know with the bolt on PTO flange on the flex plate end and splined yoke on the pump shaft end, I'm told they make some sort of high performance shaft to replace the standard coupler and it should be used when running really high horse power, he did have a jet-away but that got trashed as well when the U joints broke and everythig twisted up. There are some pics floating around showing the inside where you can see the damage much better, will try and dig them up.

so the double u-joint shaft set-up failed ?? I had the same failure this year in my gibson, V-Drive int shaft....one of the u-joints on one side was totally dry forever maybe since new, I lube every year..the other side had plenty of grease....anyway when it came apart, july 4 weekend vibrated for about 20 seconds than boom !!! took out all the couplers, flanges etc....almost the sea strainer...that would not have been good !!!! 50' going down would have been bad !!!! glad got the boat back up quick !!!! you get much snow your way ?? Rob
