Just spent a couple of days installing new bilge blower hoses and my refurbished Insta Trim pump, running new hydraulic hoses and re-sealing the transom. I have question for any of you with Insta Trim tabs with the tab locator sensors and gauge.
Is the tab locator gauge supposed to light up to show you where the tabs are? If so, and the gauge doesn't light up, is it usually the gauge or the sensors on the tabs? I can never see or tell where my tabs are on the gauge, so I just trim the boat by feel and don't worry about it, but was curious. If it is something simple and inexpensive to repair I may (new gauge is not inexpensive at $185), but if not, it's not a big deal.
Also a big thanks to Brian @ Insta Trim. He diagnosed the problem over the phone (thought it was a bad fluid sump tube, told me to send the pump to him and he would see what it would take to repair it. Mailed it USPS on a Friday and he got it on Monday (can you believe that?). Checked it, cleaned it, replaced the sump tube and the fluid tank and sent it back. He also gave a 25% discount on their bulk hydraulic hose that I needed. Total bill from Insta Trim was $113 inc. shipping. He even tossed in a pint of their biodegradable fluid and baby funnel at no charge. They only charge for parts and do not charge any labor. Pretty sweet deal!!! Anyway, Brian was great to deal with.
