July 4th and 8th - Greenwood Lake, NY

Please bring that fabled 4 blade prop you keep speaking of... I would like to give it a shot:thumb:

Not sure if that's the one I now have from Sim since Sunday evening.
Maybe you should run it first - ;) . Although we'll be out of June by then, so I'll be leaving all my bad luck behind for July and beyond.

That's one of them.Bring it.I'll bring along a few others and I have a feeling we can all try out a few different props.

Sounds good...:thumb: Please, let me try that prop first Kris:poke::rof:

John, I will bring my 25p Tempest Plus along too for you to try out. Do all of these props use a Mercury hub kit?

I have a 21p ally prop if you guys want to try it.
It's black, so looks much better than those old expensive scuffed stainless ones.

Don't break my door down for it - we can all take turns. It will be in my new 'spare prop locker'.

I think all except mine but the 24 has that "castle" built in that the Merc washer uses those tangs to lock into. I'll pick up a FloTorq kit for my OMC this week or early next. Only issue I see is there is a speed limit on the lake and there will be extra police out for the holiday. If you guys wanna prop test I would do it right away in the morning. In light of the guy getting killed last weekend in the boat crash on LI I wouldn't be surprised if the cops are a little stricter than normal. Usually they don't hassle you for speed as long as you're using your head and being safe.

You may want to drop down to a 19p prop for all the weight in extra props you will need to carry. You can carry a selection and as you "sacrifice" them (loosing weight on the boat), you can step up in pitch. Don't worry though, you will only need one hub;)

It's just as well I have a sense of humour*, or I would have thrown myself under a propless boat by now! :rof:

*Sorry, 'humor'. I'm told it's not all about 'u' here in the US. :D

Excellent idea Spence. I have an inflatable boat that's about 6 feet long, you can tow the family behind, give them all fishing nets, and as you lose props perhaps the kids can get a prize for catching one. As you lose props eventually the family can climb aboard the "Prop Tosser" with you.

Picked up a Flo-Torq set up today. Gotta love West Marine's price match policy. Kit was $50, sold by a few places online for $35, print out the screen from a $35 place, bring it in to West Marine and save $15. :)

Too bad they want $37 for a gallon of Premium Plus oil when its $16 just 1000ft down the road at Advance Auto.

Its gonna be a busy one down at the cove boys. Us regulars are doing a luau themed party and we will be bringing some Hawaiian dishes and my buddy's wife has a keg coming that we're chipping in for. :) I hope there's a spot open when I finally get down there.

What marina are you guys going to launch at, and what time? I plan to leave my house no later than 8am, which should put me there just after 10am at the lastest. Sim, I will be running up 206 right through Princeton - would you like to meet up and trailer up there together? Along the same line - Kris, we won't be too far from you on our trek north, would you be interested in meeting up and making a "Northbound Checkmate Trio"?

Looking forward to hitting the water tomorrow with fellow Checkmates:bigthumb:

Spence, I think you're the only one coming up that doesn't have my number. I'm going to PM it to you now.

John

I love it when a plan comes together (once again).

I'm planning to leave Chatham at 9am. We'd be heading up rt24 to 287 by Morristown. Probably there 15mins after leaving home.
Not sure how easy it would be to meet along there as there's a couple of exits off 287 over about 2-3 miles from the rt24 merge, so it would be dangerous pulling over.

I'll call you once I get onto 287 - that would be just before rt10 and Parsippany exits. Or maybe as I leave home.

SWMBO just txted to say that the locals are leaving their deck chairs on the side of Main street with towels on them to hold their spaces for tomorrows parade through town.
John - Do I need to park my boat at Charlie's Cove with my hawaiian shirt hanging off the outboard this afternoon to hold our spot? :rof:

The kids party there at night (and usually leave a mess for us) so I wouldn't be surprised if you came back to a beer and vomit stained Hawaiian shirt on the beach and your boat nowhere to be found. :)

There's a decent spot to pull off on the shoulder on 287 right after you go over Rt 10 I think.

Gonna hook up the flag from our 9/11 run for tomorrow.
