Lady Liberty Summer 2013 Run

Woo Hoo! Anybody have suggestions for a HoeDown date?
Meet at ramp on Liberty Island State Park for some Statue photo's and a round Manhattan cruise.
Labor day weekend?
Anybody got a better idea?

The Liberty run would be a 1 day event.
If people are hauling in from out of State, then maybe a second day on the Delaware from near Trenton to Philly would be an option. That way we could either base ourselves near there for accomodation.

Just an idea.

I'm on for this either way. I think waiting till Labor Day shouldn't be necessary...at least for the warmup trip ;-)

Whats is it like cruising the hudson around the island. I have never been outside my hometown lake. Not a lot of seat time. the closest I have been to boating on open waters is riding the staten island ferry. Are there any cial regs that need to be adhered to?

It's freakin awesome.
I love the trip.
The harbour is lumpy and you need to have your wits about you until you head up the Hudson past Jersey City. Then it settles down and you can open it up on the flat water as far as you want.
After passing under GWB, you turn to starboard into the Harlem river for some slow cruisin for 15mins. Then open her up again down to Hells Gate and ride the moving water onto the East River.
All the way down to the harbour again where you arrive out amidst the Staten Island Ferries and the other traffic and you need to be sober, or you'll find it sobering! ;-)

The only regs are to be compliant with Coastguard regs for safety equipment etc. as you may get boarded for inspection.

Don't be put off by my description above...this is an awesome trip.

If you want to make it a 75miler, you can continue up the Hudson past the Tappanzee bridge to Ossining for lunch, fuel the boat and then head back down the Hudson and turn to port into the Harlem river and continue the circle.

That should help your seat time (and haemorroids!!) LMFAO

Is boating from Trenton to the lady possible? How long of a ride?
Can be done on a trailer in just a little over an hour. And it looks EXCELLENT on the GPS.
Next weekend, Saturday June 1 is looking to be sunny and near 90 in which case we will definitely be taking the Enforcer for her maidencruise around the city.
If anybody wants a seat without trailering their own bote up we'll have a seat or two open.
Or, anybody who wants to bring their own flote along.....

That sounds awesome. I really cannot wait to try it. But I gotta admit that I am and I will be nervous as hell . This is all so new to me. Glad though that I will be with much more experienced boaters. I don't have friends or family members that do any boating. Can't wait.

Topgun - you'll be fine.
Have that Persuader fueled and running well, and you'll be worry free and able to focus on the task and views at hand.

I personally never thought I would ever drive my own boat around one of the greatest cities in the world, but here I am able to call NY harbor my playground.

Bring your camera and a few cold ones and I'll do my best to be there. :thumb:

Yes, we'd also be happy to show you around(preferably with knarloid ). It really is one of the coolest rides I've ever experienced. The whole thing can be abbreviated into about 3 hours or enjoyed for the majority of a day.
Now that we have a (mini) cabin we're gonna try to take a week at some point to head up the Hudson.

If heading up to the Tappan Zee I would just continue up to Newburghor or at least to West Point. The academy is stunning from the water.
