Manhattan trip - early-mid September?

All,

We are still a GO for Saturday 6th around Manhattan.

Does 10-10:30am at the Liberty State Park launch work for everyone?
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Huds...ront+Walk,+Jersey+City,+New+Jersey+07305&z=15

We would plan to leave there at 11am, so we have time to launch, and be flexible for anyone running a little late.
I think the parking/launch fee is about $20 - pay the machine there. If the machine is out of order, we just drive up the road to the main Park building and pay them (you can tow up to there - Sim and I did it before once).

Depending on when we finish up (probably between 3pm and 4pm), I would be glad to invite people to a BBQ back at our house. We can park the cars/trailers on my front garden for the few hours (should be able to get 3 on there easily - I don't care about the grass - ground is hard as a rock all summer). Would make for a great picture!!! :D
I live 4-5mins off Rt78 just before it crosses Rt287 (Bridgewater/Bedminster area), so for those heading south west, it hopefully shouldn't be too far off track. 40mins from my house to the ramp straight down Rt78.

So far I believe we have:

Sim
Droptop
dream4ta
Chuckb
......any other takers? :surf:

I'm still in and meeting at 10-10:30am at the Liberty State Park launch works for me. The BBQ at your place also sounds great but I will need to see how my 7yr old daughter and 5yr old son, or my wife is holding up:)

I'm assuming I should plan to pack lunch or do you think we will be stopping somewhere at some point for lunch even if it's a late lunch?

Excellent Chuck!

I was thinking of stopping for lunch at the marina in Ossining. They have a nice restaurant there on the water. Then top off fuel and head back down the Hudson. We would probbaly be there between 12 and 1.

There's not really anywhere else to stop for food or fuel on the route (certainly around Manhattan) so I always bring drinks and snacks in the boat for this trip. Also suggest throwing in warmer clothes for everyone (e.g. hoodies, raincoats) just in case.

Your kids will be able to play at our house if you stop by with my 7yr old and 3yr old (he's 3 in 2wks). They'll definitely sleep well on Saturday night! :)

1 more taker here! It would be me, my girlfriend and her 7 year old son. Will drag the old Convincor up from south east pa if there's room for more. The meeting time and place sounds great to us!

I'm unfortuately not going to make this trip. Part of the reason is I just did this last weekend. We rented a 38' Wellcraft with a 12.' beam. This thing was huge.

Wish we could make it but it looks like I'll be working Saturday. Give me a honk when you pass the train yard by the 207th St bridge on the Harlem River.

All -

We're still going with this on Saturday morning.
Right now it looks like there may be a rain/thunder shower in the afternoon at some point (not clear yet when).
Also, Sim needs to be back at the ramp by 3pm to head for home.

So I'm proposing we all meet before 10 where possible with a goal to leave the ramp as soon after 10 as possible. Hoping this won't affect those of you coming in from afar too much - except a slightly earlier alarm call.

After reviewing the distance up to Ossining, I am also proposing that we do the lunch/fuel stop at Cornetta's marina and restaurant in Piermont on the West shore: http://www.cornettas.com/ It should save us about 30mins of runtime compared to Ossining.
Is we were there by 12 for a quick lunch, we should be fine to get back to base by 3pm for Sim and hopefully any inclement weather.

I'll review the forecast again before we arrive in the morning.
If the weather might hit us earlier still, we can just loop Manhattan in 2-3hrs and not run north through the Palisades to Piermont.

So arrive with that full tank of gas anyway. This will be awesome! :thumb:

In case you are wondering, there is gas available here on the trip:
Jersey City, just after Ellis Island: http://libertylandingmarina.com/
Englewood, just north of the GW Bridge (before we would turn into the Harlem river): http://www.njpalisades.org/englewoodBasin.html

Just home from an awesome day with 3 other Checkmates today.

Pictures to come soon - I'll start a new thread in the Pictures area as I suspect there's been a lot taken today! :thumb:
