Memorial Day - South Florida Style.

Decided this Sunday to brave the crowds and venture out onto the water on probably one of the busiest days of the year.
Headed out pretty late (10:30am), and already had neighbors coming over to let me know that they went out at 8:00am and couldn't get their boats in at 2 ramps and came home.
Got lucky at a little hideaway ramp I know of, and spent 7 hours in the water....good day it was.

These are just pics from a raft up at a sandbar in the Ft. Lauderdale Intracoastal Waterway.
I was just trying to find pics of as many Mercs and Checks as I could so don't mind all the stray pics.

Holy crap for a while Ii thought you were actually looking for boats. Man I need to get to Florida more. Often thought it would be fun too take the 259 down there

Just head to LOTO, its a lot closer and the party about a 100 times crazier! Trust Me,

Heres about the only 10 seconds I could show of a 3:00 minute video of LOTO.

I'm sure we wouldn't all mind seeing the other 2:50 minute video...
And yes...Ft. Lauderdale is more conservative than you think...we aren't all cooped up all winter waiting to bust loose when the warm weather hits.

Where and when is LOTO anyway?

Those are some great pictures you got of some nicely rigged boats.

Jeff do I need to give you my email for the rest of the video?

They had video from Peanut Island on the news over the weekend.
Too nuts for me.

A buddy in Miami is always trying to get us down for the Columbus Day Regatta but thats even worse.

I guess I'm getting old plus I grew up at Put in Bay in Lake Erie back in the day so I've had my fix :)

Great pix though. Sebastian Inlet up by us is about as crazy on the big weekends.

Yes, I'm just like you Guys. Now that I'm older,m I don't need all that partying.
Before 9/11 used to be a 400 to 500 boat party every weekend in my favorite achorage in Canadian waters. Now days on a hot summer weekend we might get 50-70 boats achored. And at 50+ yrs old, thats just the way I like it. (a serious case of been there, done that) :surf:

I'm there with ya...same age also, but just because it's in Ft/ Lauderdale, it's not Spring Break all over again......thats all changed down here also from 20+ years ago.

Like INSTIGATOR mentions, you go north to Sebastion or south to SouthBeach/Miami....for the Girls Gone Wild stuff.

How 'Bout 20 more seconds of that video:eyecrazy:
