Merc 1987 V200 Carb jets

CLSKIP2

New member
I rebuilt the carbs on my 87 V200 merc and I noticed the main jets were different sizes. the top and bottom carbs used a .080 and a .082 while the middle carb had both .080. Also the top and bottom carbs only had 1 vent jet and the middle had 2. Is this standard? Or did the original dealer just use my carbs for spare parts? Truthfully the engine has never run a smooth idle but the response was usually good. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds resonable. Typically. #2 &5 are often jetted richer due to the fact that they run hotter.

In order to give a proper reply need Motor serial and carb model numbers.

Serial # & carbs

Thanks for the reply. Its serial #0B168166 and the Carbs are WH-39-1, 2, 3.
It just seemed strange. thanks for the help

Go to your Mercury Dealer and ask him to look in the appropriate FACTORY Service manual in Section 3. It will give you exact details for jetting for all carbs including, idle, air, and main jets. I would also strongly recommend that you buy a FACTORY service manual for your motor if you plan on doing any work yourself. Great reference material.

I unfortunately have service manuals at home for the order V-6's and the newer V-6's..That one is missing. Boy I love lending my stuff out never to get it back.

Sorry I can't do more.

Thanks for the info. I just got the service manual. That should help alot. I will have it back in the water next weekend so I will see if the rebuild did the trick. Thanks for the help.
