mercury tilt-kill switch

so i have been having problems with my 1979 inline 6 running like crap. I was just about to order a new stator and trigger as well as a flywheel removal tool in order to take care of the problem. before i did i decided to take one more look at the wiring diagrams. THe mercury-filled tilt-kill switch caught my eye, so i found it, disconnected it and VOILA-motor runs GREAT again. My only question is i would like to replace this switch as a simple safeguard, does anybody know where to get one and approx. how much they cost? if they are too much i wont worry about it-im not stupid enough to trim up insanely too much while driving.

i found it, 49.00 through mercury parts express-- i think ill pass. Unless, anyone can give me a good reason that i should have it. What it does is if the operator trims up too far it will shut off power to the motor. I dont think this will be an issue, as i am not an idiotic operator who will try to trim too far.

The switch went bad on my 79 200 and I went to get a new one and the Merc guy said they never replaced them they just buy passed them.

well I have some take offs, keep in mind though it is only there if you hit something, the motor comes up out of the water and the mercury switch kills the engine, not that I would tell you to disconnect a safety device, but that is what it was intended to do.
