Miniature Checkmate Diplomat?

Hello everyone - I have a random question for you guys, but before I ask it here's a little background on me:

My dad bought a 1982 Diplomat (Blue metallic flake) with an 85 Evinrude (he's since put a 120 on it) brand new in 1982 and after 27 seasons with the boat, he's thinking about selling it. He's taken such good care of that boat - he had Checkmate reapolster the seats and replaced the carpet in '02 so it looks fantastic. I love that metal flake, too! Now I'm 30, so this boat is really the only one I've ever known - I learned to kneeboard, trick ski, slalom ski, wakeboard, etc. on this boat and I'm pretty sad that he's going to sell it. I understand why he's selling it - he just bought a Bennington tri-toon with a 150 Yamaha that he can ski off of if he feels like it; meanwhile the Checkmate stays on the boat lift most of the season - and I can't buy it from him because I don't have anywhere to put it. But this boat was part of my childhood, so it still chokes me up a bit. :o

Which brings me to my question: has Checkmate or anyone else ever made a miniature model of a Diplomat? I know it's a long shot, but I'd love to buy one for my dad and myself and my online search hasn't resulted in much. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to respond.

PS - I've been looking through the forum at the pictures of all the older Checkmates - I love it! Please keep the community going and maybe I'll be a real member myself one day. :bigthumb:

There is only 2 mini checkmate I know of. 1 was the playmate, 13' long powered by a O/B. I have also seen jet powered mini checkmates, set up like the sea-doo-doo's.

Hi guys, thanks for responding. I guess I didn't explain myself completely - I was actually talking about a toy model-sized checkmate. Your boat is really nice, I'm just looking for something that will fit on my desk. :D

Here's an Idea for you ~ rent the lift from Dad and buy the checkmate from him ~ that way it stays in the family and you give dad a little coin for storing the boat for you.. WIN/WIN ;)
