Motor height question

Pelly

New member
My MX15 has a long shaft Merc 1000 on it. While sitting on the trailer, the bottom of the motor is almost touching ground. How high should it sit? Also what other options do I have aside from a jack plate to raise the motor if necesary? I read in some posts that jackplates put more stress on the transom, and I'm not sure if I want to do that. Thanks.

With out a jack the other option is to raise the motor on the transom by mounting it in the bottom hole. Jackplate do put a bit of added stress on the transom but if the transom is solid then you have nothing to worry about.
The other option is to get a shorter motor. Good luck and have fun.
