So as some may know im a new checkmate owner, 2nd boat, limited knowledge to outboards.. Well I took the battery I had from an old truck and clamped the battery wires to it to start the motor, before it started their was like a buzzar sound, it started up fine, ran fine.. Shut it off.. A day or so later did it again and the starter was spinning, but wasnt really engaging.. Ok. so I go out change the key switch since the screwdriver key wasnt going to work all summer.. Come back out, and their is no power getting to the motor what so ever now. Checked switch connections they are all correct.. Im thinking what happened is the terminals not being connected the best way and the sparks from clamping and unclamping the terminals shorted a fuse.. Now heres the thing, I only see two fuses in the back.. They are square with 5 prongs.. Are these two 12v 40a fuses the only ones that would hold it up? Is their any other fuses in the motor I dont know of? Any other ideas? Note im positive the wires are correct on the key switch, went through it for 40 mins, its correct
